Fast forward 14 years and now I needed the next two levels to be fused. Dr. Gatto's practice was out of network for my health insurance, however, I had high hopes since he was recommended by my pain management doctor, Dr. Rubinfeld. I did not mind paying the out of pocket charges since I was in a great deal of pain and I was under the impression I was going to be fixed. We had discussed having the procedure in June of 2023. The last time I saw Dr. Gatto was May 9th, 2023. Dr. Gatto wanted to fuse the next two levels in order to correct the issue. I never heard back from Dr. Gatto or the practice regarding my surgery. I left numerous messages for Dr. Gatto's PA to call me back to schedule my surgery but had zero success. Fortunately, I was referred to Dr. Scott Katzman in West Orange, NJ. After 6 months of fighting with the insurance, Dr. Katzman's practice had my procedure finally approved and I had my surgery in December of 2023. Now, while Dr. Gatto's practice never called me back to schedule my surgery, they still would like me to pay $166 in charges not covered by my health insurance. Imagine that, wasting months of my time with doctor visits to their office only to have them not call me back and then demand I pay for an unfinished job. I do not recommend this practice.
