Bougie department store that is like a marginally cheaper mini Harrods with a few good restaurants inside. We tried to get into the Seafood Restaurant as walk ins but no luck, which is a pity as the menu looks excellent, from fish pie to caviar, and of course champagne. It is obviously very popular. Next visit to Norwich ;) There is a large selection of UK and foreign goods in the food department, along with a counter full of delicacies to temp you. I stopped by a gin tasting booth and it was interesting to try the different flavoured gins being sold. I wish I had more time to browse, especially in the arts department. Definitely worth a gawk and sample if you are in Norwich. read more

I came here on 30 Dec. for a nice outfit, and Tim in the men's department was kind enough to help me find my size in trousers, especially since my usual size in the US is different from the UK/EU sizes. Jarrold is a family run department store. Like department stores, they have branded goods such as: Laura Mercier, Tommy Hilfiger, FCUK. They also have salons, spas, sporting goods, furniture, books. I want to mention about Norwich Lanes. Which is surrounds around Jarrold. Norwich Lanes is where you'll find independent UK stores and restaurants. I think it's a great way to explore the city and see something that you don't see at other places. Lets face it, department stores are pretty much the same. Walk around the Norwich quarters and explore the architecture. I did enjoy window shopping at Jarrolds. If I lived here, I'll shop here for sure. read more

In my opinion this is one of the best department stores in Norwich, It is really large and goes over 4 floors. They sell everything you could imagine, even some strange items that you may not find in other shops which adds to it's oldie worldy atmosphere, if you know what I mean. They have an excellent toy department, based on the 4th floor and a great arts/crafts department. The toys are however a little expensive, but you will pick up some unique purchases. The ladies clothing department is quite extensive and includes designer brands. They do however offer some great bargains if you are quick in the sales. The is also a cafe on the top floor, which offers a range of hot and cold snacks. Also there is a smaller cafe in the basement. The staff are smart and professional and are really helpful and well trained in customer service, which is good to see. A deffinate for a browse and a coffee. read more

A proper department store right in the centre of Norwich. Jarrolds is a family store retaining its independence which in itself deserves your custom! Downstairs in the basement you will find a fantastic deli, quality home wares, cooking equipment, gifts from branded houses such as Wedgewood, Royal Doulton and the like. Other floors offer shoes, clothes including Windsmoor, The White Stuff, and a bridal department, books books and more books, perfumes, MAC cosmetics, furniture....the list goes on! Right at the top is one of the best toy departments in Norwich - perfect for Christmas shopping! A great department store, the pride of the city. Famous for their Xmas window displays that glisten and sparkly with anamatronic animals. Their lower level and main entrance leads you in to the hub for cosmetics. It's a bit overpowering with all the scents in the air. There's an interesting fish tank on display with tropical fish swimming sponsored by one of these companies. When you have battle through the invisible fragrant mist you will come across the books and magazine section. They have a hairdressers inside as well as a great art section on the top level. I've got some really happy memories of the toy department as a child. read more

Jarrolds is a beautiful department store set across 4 floors I think. It is in a stunning building and the corner stone of shopping in the city. Selling everything from kitchen wear to stationery, books and bags it is a wonderful place to wander round and admire, My favourite department is the art and craft department upstairs, it has everything a crafty girl might ever want or need. A bit pricey at times, its always still worth a look! And the coffee shop is lovely. read more

As far as I'm aware this is the only independent department store in Norwich. Sells a whole range of items, from books, to shoes, to arts & crafts. Also contains the only MAC make up counter in Norwich. Some items can be a little pricey, but you get what you pay for as everything they sell is good quality. read more

Since their facelift a few years back Jarrolds is always a store I stop by. they have a really great cosmetics department including all the big names, plus Dr. Hauscka, Molton Brown, M.A.C which are not stocked in many other places in Norwich (therefore the whole of East Anglia!). They have a big shoe department and stock my favorite handbags, 'lie down I think I love you' which I have only seen in London before. Clothing includes Coast, FC, Great Plains, Hobbs, Fenn Wright, Phase Eight...good homes section too downstairs. read more

Jarrolds could only be a more traditional department store if John Inman and Molly Sugden popped up over the perfume counter. But that's what makes it great. Jarrolds is a Norwich institution and you'll find a great spread of brands and departments inside. the new Mac (make up, not computers) store add on is great, as is their sports shop just across the street. read more

This is Norwich's flagship store. I love roaming round it, expecially at Christmas, and searching for goodies. It's a general department store in the heart of Norwich. They stock clothes, books, gifts etc. and there is the stationers nearby for the more specialist things you are looking for. Typical for Norwich, the staff are friendly, helpful and seem proud of where they work and what they represent - a fantastic British city. read more

jarrolds a well established family run independant department store in the heart of norwich just a stones throw from norwich market. although a lot of things are on the expensive side it sells what you would expect of a department store. has a good book section which regulary has book signings. is good place for a bite to eat whether its just a coffee and cake to a full cooked meal in their resteraunt. has lots of quality brands and a good range of beauty and fragrance stands. is one of those stores if your looking for something out of the ordinary or something you cant find anywhere else jarrolds is the place. a must to have a browse if visiting norwich read more

A family run long standing department store in central norwich. Perfect lay out with great cosmetics rang on the first floor, ground floor toilets and china and coffee house. Book selection well kept and ample staff to assist you. Sales are very good in this store and I always manage to get gifts for loved ones in here. I mainly shop in Jarrolds for their top floor restaurant. There is a huge range of top quality food here for all tastes. Salad bar, hot and cold, carvery. Can't fault this restaurant. It never fails to deliver. Prices for the carvery are very cheap. Much cheaper to eat in here than say a restaurant on Chapelfield a plain for example. Keep it up. read more

We have just returned home after buying a jacket for my husband in the Jaeger mensware department of Jarrolds - and the experience couldn't have been better. We had to order the jacket as the size my husband needed wasn't in stock and it came within a week. Luke, the young man who looked after us throughout, was very helpful, friendly and polite - and new what he was talking about. Thank you Luke, and thank you Jarrolds. read more

Although the look of Jarrolds and the layout is very nice, the employees are ill-suited to the task of giving proper customer service. In two departments (notably, the art department and the printing department) I was not acknowledged or greeted. As I brought my items to the cash, I said hello to the cashier, who did not reply back or even look at me as I must have interrupted her lovely chat with her co-worker. Her cash was covered in kraft paper, so I then asked if it was okay for me to place my items on the paper (as there was no where else to place them). She still did not respond and simply took my items and rung them up. The only thing this woman ever said to me was "£13.00 please". As if this experience wasn't rude enough (the least that I expect as a paying customer is to receive some sort of greeting or even the pretense that the cashier MIGHT care) I made my way down to the stationary and printing department. Thinking that perhaps this encounter with the art department was simply bad luck, I was still willing to spend my money at Jarrolds as I needed some items printed. I made my way to the printing service counter where the employee on duty walked away and went to the main stationary cash, where he chatted with a female colleague. I made eye contact with the employee, trying to give him a sign that I was in need of some printing service, but he simply looked at me, turned around and continued speaking to the other employee. Now, I stood here for a good 5 minutes, staring at the wall, looking at the pricing and signage, thinking that the employee must have been asking a question to the other employee and would be coming back, but no. He never came back. And so I left, and I never had my large order printed, and I will not be going to Jarrolds for my printing or anything else for that matter, (not that I would be served anyway!).
