Jared is amazing. For serious, Salt Lake City is lucky he came home from the wilds of LA and NYC. Some folks blithely change their 'dos in drastic ways. For others, like myself, changing your hairstyle can feel pretty vulnerable. Jared was confident and decisive, but truly listened. Isn't that exactly what you want in your hairdresser? Someone unbelievably hip, talented, and fierce, with unimpeachable credentials--a genius with scissors--and yet approachable and willing to compromise? I mean, usually you find one suite of traits, or the other, but not so often do you find both in one individual. Anyway, I went into his salon terrified to chop off my hair (kept long for decades until it had become both psychological armor and crutch). Wanting to go short, but totally willing to take just a trim if I wussed out. I came away from his salon with a new lease on life. And enjoyed a nice mug of tea while undergoing my transformation. And later donated my flowing locks to Locks of Love! So maybe my hair will give someone else a new lease on life, too. Jared, you are so much more than a hair stylist. I cannot say enough good things about Jared Gomez. People complain about Salt Lake being behind the curve when it comes to fashion, culture, and anything related to style. While sometimes that holds merit, Jared brings a critical eye and talent on par (if not exceeding) any work coming out of LA or NYC. I've been to Jared for a plethora of different hairstyles and each he has pulled off with ease, and has left me looking AMAZING while providing a fun and comfortable experience. He also manages to deal with me on visits where I have no idea what I want, and I am comfortable surrendering total control. I've never had a bad experience with him. Since I've been seeing Jared he has lifted my jet black ethnic hair to blonde, helped me rock the ever popular ombre dye job everyone in Hollywood is dying over, and returned me to a more conservative business appropriate look while still allowing me to retain my individualism. I've always heard that Jared Gomez is the best hair stylist in Salt Lake City. I decided to put this title to the test. Let me share my experience: I made my appointment with Jared directly. He is very personable and made sure to find a time that worked best for my schedule. When I went to his salon, I was really impressed with the individual attention you get as his client. At most salons there are rows of salon chairs, gabbing housewives and people awkwardly staring at you from their mirror. I can't tell you how much I hate a loud impersonal salon. Jared's salon is clutter free, modern and the conversations are between you and him as your personal stylist. I believe that you should judge your stylist based on their appearance (superficial I know, but it's a must.) If you walk into a great clips and get your hair cut by someone in polar fleece Eeyore themed sweat pants with a terrible a-line cut, you can expect that they will make you look about as fashionable as they are. Jared Gomez is not only incredibly good looking, but you trust that someone who takes care of themselves as well as he does, & dresses as fashion forward as he does will help change your droopy hair-due into something new and gorgeous. Anyway, Jared gave me the best hair cut of my life. He looked at my hair and knew exactly what he needed to do to give me the look I wanted. He is very friendly and keeps you included every step of the way through the styling process. Jared was easily able to also fix my eyebrows which had been waxed unevenly by a previous stylist. Jared even offered to teach me how to style my hair. Most stylists kick your ass out of their chair and try to make you buy tons of products. I would recommend Jared to anyone. I went to Jared because I just was not happy with the other places that I went to after my usual guy I went to in Salt Lake City moved to California. I absolutely hate finding new stylists because I'm just not very articulate in expressing what I wanted done. I did a review and figured that Jared would know what to do or at least be able to do something with my hair. I had to do a consulting appointment before anything. I went to him and explained what I had done with my hair, what I was hoping to do, and asked if he had any suggestions. He explained in detail what could be done with my hair (I have fine asian hair by the way). I liked what he said and booked my appointment with him. I'll fast forward to a few months later and say that Jared is very good. I'm very comfortable telling him what I wanted and he provided the input I really wanted. I left very satisfied with how my turned out EVERY time. He really takes his time and cares about his work which was important to me. I have since moved back to California and at this moment need Jared to work his magic again. I'm pretty sure I'll book an appointment with him the next time I'm in Salt Lake City just because he really is that amazing. read more

If you don't want a headache and a no-show charge, do not wait in the waiting room on the couch like a normal salon. I had a 12 noon appointment, arrived to the salon at 11:45 from Ogden. No one in the front to check you in. No where in the emails (yes, plural) does it state to go directly to his salon space. Not one bit of check in information. Sat in the couch, passed 12:30 thinking okay he's running late. Called his cellphone at 12:45 and after two rings got forwarded to his voicemail. At 1:00 flagged down another stylist and asked if he always ran this late. Took me to his room where the curtains were drawn so you couldn't see in. He stated that he didn't see me waiting. His assistant was able to book me for the following week since by now he couldn't work on me. Later got a notification from my credit card that I got a charge for $125. I now have to dispute the charge, cancel my appointment and find another stylist. His prices were not intimidating by all means, I'm from Honolulu where $300 is the standard. His work looks great but I am pissed about the situation. I think he would benefit with explaining the check in process for a new client. Maybe have the assistant pop her head out and see if anyone is waiting if it's past 10 minutes. Not only did I waste my time and gas on a miscommunication but was charged $125 for the inability to mind-read. read more

Today I had a haircut by Jared Gomez at Salon O and I have to say it was the best haircut I've ever had! My head is that of a 60 plus woman, and I am only interested in not looking like a 70 plus woman or a poodle. Jared more than satisfied my requests and while doing his work he made me laugh out loud and made me forget my stresses of life for the entire time. I had a terrific stylist in SLC. One who knew me, my style, and how to deal with all my hair's quirks to make me look like a rock star. But sadly she moved away leaving me floundering in Utah's hit or miss style wasteland. I just let my hair grow for over a year until I decided I wanted and needed a change. After doing a fair amount of research I decided Jared was the guy to see. Herewith is my review: First let me say that I wish I could offer a different number of stars for different aspects of my experience, but alas I cannot But if I could... 5 Stars for Talent. Jared is obviously an excellent stylist. He knows his stuff, and has a good eye. 4 Stars for Customer Service. Jared was running late and sent me a text so I wouldn't be waiting around forever. My time is valuable and I really appreciated this. 2 Stars for Inattentiveness. Ok, to be honest, this really bugged me. Jared's assistant was a nice guy and he gave a great scalp massage during the shampoo, but I felt like a third wheel between the two of them. And when yet another person entered the room the gossip ratcheted up exponentially. I think would have had a much different haircut if I'd had Jared's full attention. 3.5 Stars for Haircut. As I mentioned previously, Jared is a very good hair-cutter and stylist, and I liked my hair when I left his chair, but it wasn't the change I was looking for. Jared did give me some styling tips, but haven't been able to fully replicate the look I left with. 3 Stars for Price. I'm not a stranger to high priced haircuts. My regular stylist in SF charged $200. Even in Utah I've had some pricy cuts. But all things considered, and taking into consideration the mini-mall atmosphere of the Image Studio location, I think $60. was a bit spendy. Would I return? I might. Jared has been cutting my hair since he was in hair school (where I first met him). I've followed him to different locations over the years until (and after) I left SLC. Luckily he moved to NYC for awhile and I was able to have him cut my hair while he was there. I've been in SF and now back to Brooklyn and whenever I'm in SLC visiting family, I always make sure to get in an appointment with Jared. Based on his other clients I've either followed or preceded its obvious he has a great repertoire with people and folks are really thrilled with his work. I had such a hard time finding a great stylist ever since I moved to salt lake. No one gets my hair. Everyone I tried just couldn't figure it out. I loved that Jared offered a consultation before I scheduled! It gave me a chance to get to know him face to face. From the first time that Jared Gomez ever colored my hair I started getting compliments on a daily basis. Usually these random people stop me and ask "Is that your natural color?"(Which is what I wanted) then they ask "Who colors your hair and where can I find him?" You know when kim kardasian dyed her hair that beautiful carmel color? I went here with the impression I was getting a professional. What I got was charged $400 for an amateur job. At the consultation I was told once I go lighter he would refuse to dye my hair any other color down the road and what I was requesting required a team of professionals. Well what the hell are you dude a beginner? That shouldve been the red flag.The color came out nothing like I requested and with spots. SPOTS!! I'm pretty sure he had to Google how to lighten hair because for that price it wasn't shown in the work. I feel completely ripped off and for half that price I have been going to m.scott salon who has done nyc fashion week, been featured in all the fashion magazines and has a lengthy bio with credentials. Now that is someone who deserved my $400. This guy is just a basic hairstylist. If you want someone with experience or creativity I'd look elsewhere. read more

I was very nervous about going to this appointment. It was the first time ever that my hair was as long as it is. I was recovering from surgery and googled best hair dresser in Salt Lake....Jared's name popped up!!! I read the reviews and everything I came across about him. I decided to schedule an appointment which was two months out...as the date drew closer the more nervous I got. I went to the appointment today.....nerves and all!!! Boy was I impressed!!
