Now, I am leaving this review as a driver that must wait in the waiting area for the patient. Wait time for this procedure is 2 hours. What is missing is a water dispenser or bottled water chiller, coffee area and breakfast bars. My doctor's office has them, my nail salon, hair salon, car dealer has them as a convenience for those waiting. This surgery center should have them, as well. Two hours is a long time to wait and you are instructed not to leave while the person you are waiting for is in surgery. Just a suggestion.

They gave explanations with confirmed explanations established by the previous care provider. It is totally assuring. The doctors on the other hand ( not the primary surgeon) were not as kind as the nursing staff. There was a feeling of not working in the desired position or venue or simply in need of better bedside manners. They could be kinder and less condescending. They were professional nonetheless. The aftercare was superior as well. This was not an institutional experience like corporate hospitals are but very appropriately sized for out patient care. Parking and building are adequate and clean for its purpose.

Dr. Spigelman -- where do I begin?…read more I guess I'll start more than 15 years ago, when my grandmother became his patient after another surgeon blinded one of her eyes for a routine procedure. At 70+ years old, things looked hopeless for her. After coming to Dr. Spigelman and being treated for a number of years, she was shocked one day; my grandmother opened her eyes and saw out of her prior blind eye. Fast forward to 2015, and I came to see the doctor for vision correction. The only surgery I knew of was LASIK, and after a few tests, Dr. S suggested an alternative procedure to correct my eyesight. He knew I was nervous and reassured me things would be okay, specifying the technique he used, pre and post op procedures, and even explained that several members of his family -- and he, too -- have undergone vision correction. His bedside manner and warmth are rare traits amongst many doctors these days, and I never felt like he rushed or like my concerns went unheard. He really made me feel as comfortable as possible and his staff were also kind and helpful during the process. There were many laughs shared with his staff and they were incredibly thorough and explained the post-op effects like blurriness of vision on the second day. The doctor checked in regularly after my procedure and was very attentive, asking me to come in for post-op appointments to make sure everything looked great. The most impressive thing to me was that all of the pre and post operation appointments were included in the price for the surgery -- the cost and breakdown were very transparent, and ultimately, very reasonable for what I got. Long story short, Dr. Spigelman restored my vision too. His hands, knowledge, and approach are truly transformational. Three years later, not a day goes by where I don't wake up to see things clearly or don't enjoy activities without the aid of glasses and contacts. Dr. Spigelman, thank you for the gift of vision!

For four months I went without being able to see well enough to drive (and by the way, I am not retired and had to figure out how to work during that time). It was such a stressful experience and each time I went back for a followup appointment, the attitude was, "Hey, we're awesome, it's your eyes that aren't working." Zero empathy for the fact that I couldn't see. Also continually refused to give me corrective lenses so I could function. I finally gave up on them and returned to my regular eye doctor to complete the followup treatment (and lo and behold, they were able to put me into corrective lenses so I could actually, finally return to being a fully functioning adult!). It was a horrid experience. So horrid that I am not even willing to let them do the contract guaranteed touchup. The level of stress that office created was off the charts. And then, as if the in-office treatment wasn't bad enough, they told me they'd waive the copay for my initial followup appointment, and then sent me bills and threatened to turn me over to collections, for a whooping $50. I would never recommend this place. Do not trust your eyesight to this office. I wish I had checked the reviews before going there because now I can see that mine is a pretty common experience, unfortunately.

Really, I'd lost all faith in doctors and thought that I'd make the best of an awful situation. Three years later, I reached out to a friend for advice. She gave me Dr. Tanzman's information, and in April 2023 I scheduled my consult. From the moment I walked into his office I had a sense of peace. After speaking with Dr. Tanzman I knew that this is where I was meant to be. Dr. Tanzman is nothing short of amazing. He is thorough in his examination, listened carefully to my concerns, and then made excellent recommendations; he is compassionate. I had breast augmentation and scar revision on May 9, 2023; the results are beautiful! I highly recommend him, and will most definitely use him in the future. The staff is very pleasant and professional. I don't feel like a number when I walk in, I feel like a part of the family. Thank you, Dr. Tanzman, for restoring confidence in myself!

He then did a second procedure a few weeks later. he told me that he does back to back procedures all of the time. After my tummy tuck my incision opened while I was still in the hospital when the nurse tried to get me out of bed. Dr Chau told the nurse he was out to eat and it wouldn't be until the end of the day that he came and he did not believe my incision opened because that doesn't happen. He finally got to the hospital and found it was open. He sewed me close in the hospital room in a non stream environment. My healing process was absolutely terrible. I have photos of my infection growing that my husband would send dr Chau and he would say "it's normal". My whole back ending up opening again at home due to the infection. I went septic before dr Chau would see me. I ended up having to go to the ER and have a surgery to scrape out infection and close me back. My stomach is crooked, my belly button is crooked and half of it hangs, my boobs are different sizes and definitely nowhere near what I wanted. I wouldn't trust dr Chau to work on my worst enemy. I beg you to go somewhere else. This man should not have a practice.

I called my regular opthamologist, but they couldn't t see me for two weeks. They referred me to Dr. Lim's practice. I felt desperate and called...Dr. Lim squeezed me in at the end of that day. I will never never forget her willingness to see me in a pinch, her kindness and professionalism. When I moved back to Michigan a couple of years ago, she was my go-to eye care professional and has been caring for my eyes ever since. She suggested cataract surgery this year at my annual exam. I knew it was coming but I was so fearful. I'm so squeamish about my eyes, i could never even put contact lenses in them. I really didn't want to have the surgery, but I trusted her. Happy to report that I had my left eye done yesterday. She and her staff are amazing. They put me at ease and everything they promised on, they delivered. No pain. And they made the whole process so easy up front, from scheduling, measurements, complete explanations, time they spent with me; they had my eye drops (for pre and post op) sent directly to my home from the pharmacy, complete with all supplies from sunglasses, protective eye patch and tape, etc. I didn't have to go out and get anything! They put together a visual, color-coded eye drop schedule (there are three sets of drops and it's important that they are administered correctly) for the following two weeks post op, that even a kid could understand! I appreciated that! Their process is flawless. I had my post op follow up appointment with Dr. Lim this morning and again, her kindness, professionalism, time she spent with me was so appreciated. I can't say enough good things about her and I feel so fortunate that I found her. It's so refreshing to have a medical professional so skilled, so available, so attentive, so caring, etc. If you are in need of a great opthamologist, I highly recommend Dr. Lim and her practice.
