We put a large deposit down for a screened in porch build, and then they disappeared and ignored our calls. Tony Kurtz, the owner, is an absolute smooth-talking scammer. After he gave us an estimate, we put down a large deposit, and we were put on his schedule. The day we were supposed to have concrete poured, no one showed up or answered our calls. We later found out that his concrete guy cancelled for personal reasons, but Tony or his office never reached out to inform us of this because "he was on vacation in the mountains and didn't know." Because of that, he pushed our install date out. Then, a hurricane hit shortly before we were scheduled for the install, so there were understandable delays. No problems there, and we were promised by Tony that we were next in line and he would contact us asap. However, that's when he completely ghosted us. After dozens of emails, phone calls, texts and messages with no return, we were finally told by Tony that they were delaying our project so that they could instead take care of any new customers that called with hurricane damage. After we argued that we had been waiting over a year for our project, he responded that prices have gone up since our original estimate and he was no longer going to be making any money on our project so he was going to take all hurricane calls for the next several months and would get back to us in a few months. It was clear that he was taking advantage of the hurricane to charge higher costs for everyone going through insurance and our project wasn't worth his time anymore. After that call, we waited and continued to check-in for updates over the next few months, but they never returned any of our calls. We dealt with the stress of this company for over a year and we never had any work done. What a scam.

After positive past dealings with H&Y I referred them to a member unit-owner to replace a wood courtyard enclosure with vinyl. They were prompt with their estimate and were selected out of three companies by the homeowner to perform the job. The job was completed but needed to be lowered slightly to match the height of others in the Association. Despite a delay caused by the hurricane, Jerry, the owner, saw to it that the adjustment was made to our specifications. Given the relative insignificance of this re-visit in comparison to the volume of fence work a hurricane can produce, H&Y kept their commitment and for that the homeowner and I were thoroughly impressed. It is not often these days that we witness this kind of integrity in business dealings so when we do we must recognize it. Jason did call and schedule for the following week at 9am. There were some set-backs on install day, for I had been scheduled to be 9am and by 10am, no one had shown up or called. Having taken the morning off, I was upset when I ended up having to take the full day off and they didn't even arrive until after 2pm. The crew was very efficient, with Sergio heading the team. They worked for a couple of hours. Glad I was there, to review fence before they finalized or they would have installed the fence sloped to accommodate the yard. Fence should be even, dirt can be added to even the slope of the yard on the side of the house. The posts were corrected and fence install continued. Second day they came back and finished the job. Fence looks great and truly adds value to the house. I think the installation crew is top notch. The office staff really needs to improve on their communication skills with their customers. It's like they don't care about the customer but boy did they call right away to get paid. No one ever apologized for making me wait all day when I had been scheduled for a 9am install.

This gentleman quoted me a price of $1000 stating that both cables need to be replaced and the springs and the door needed to be completely removed. I told him to leave. I googled best garage repair and spoke with Overhead Door Company. I was given a quote (tentatively) over the phone so I knew what to expect financially. When Steve with Overhead Door arrived, I explained to him what happened earlier this morning with the other company, he told me that only the one broken cable needed to be replaced. There was no need to replace the other cable or the Springs, but he would lube the Springs, tighten the cables to ensure that the door would go up and down smoothly. There was no need to remove the entire door. Excellent service! Highly recommend Overhead door Company.I feel that they were fair, honest, reputable, and a good value for the money. We had this company install our garage doors when we built our house in 1998 and had great service…read morefrom this company and the doors worked perfectly until we replaced them with hurricane rated doors. Since installing these new doors we've had nothing but trouble with them. Our double garage doors required numerous call backs due to the chain slapping in the track and terrible squeaking and banging noises as the garage door was opening. They finally fixed that issue. We also have the same issue with our single stall garage door now, which has had very little use until my retirement a few months ago. Because it is now getting normal use, it took longer for these issues to manifest. They sent someone out 2 months ago and he fixed the issue, but now they want $155 to re-fix the same issue. When I queried them about this the lady said it's out of warranty and that it's been "years" since they installed the doors. It's actually been less than two years. Knowing what I know now about this company, I wouldn't have used them.
