A few weeks before a big family birthday bash…read morefor our mom's 90th birthday, I reached out to four highly-recommended photographers via Yelp. Julie responded within minutes even though it was 8:30 on a Sunday night. After speaking with Julie, her enthusiasm for the project cemented her hire. Responses from the other three trickled in over the next week with "not available" or "no indoor shoots," so I realized I was extremely lucky to get Julie right out of the gate. The logistics of planning a huge birthday party in Florida (from Minnesota) and wrangling twenty family members for a photo shoot ahead of said party plus hiring everyone involved by long distance and hoping it goes as planned the day of were enough to make me start drinking at noon. It's not like I could meet the photographer ahead of time to discuss options, we did it all in a long phone call. And I crossed my fingers. Julie showed up right on time and had even scouted out a place in front of our beach condos where we could get Mom's wheelchair and still have a pretty background, especially for the smaller groups. Julie was so fast, so facile, she snapped and snapped each and every requested combo and even suggested a few more. She got the little ones to smile, everyone looking at the camera, and did it all in under forty minutes! Then we moved inside (HELLO AIR CONDITIONING!) and she snapped candid party pictures until time for food. Because no one wants pictures of themselves eating BBQ, amirite? She was just amazing. We took a few more posed shots and then she left us to enjoy the party. The following day she sent me a quick preview of just two of the photos. The hundreds she took will be culled, edited, curated, and available in a couple of weeks. I appreciate that she will provide links so we can print the ones we want OR order prints through her! He makes the photoshoot a very relaxing, fun experience, capturing the best of you and making it look awesome. Unlike every other photographer in this city, he doesn't charge you a years worth of car insurance in photos, and will even touch them up with you in the room. He truly values the happiness of his clients and wants them to get the result they want, whether it be a headshot, a modeling shot for a portfolio, or something else entirely. He LISTENS to what you want and works WITH you. That alone sets him above other LA photographers. I cannot recommend him enough.
