It is with great sadness that I write this review as I have recently heard that Jamon Sushi is closing it's doors for good. And after I only just discovered how wonderful it is!
Resist the urge to pronounce it ha-mon, like the Spanish ham. It's actually an un-silent J.
Each day the menu is simply a list of all the fresh ingredients for the day. It could be kingfish, unagi, king salmon, wagyu mb9+ and a range of vegetables and other ingredients, sometimes truffle. We ate their famous 'omakase' dinner with many courses. There are three types, the regular, deluxe or gourmet.
A friend of mine in Melbourne is a huge fan and booked a table for us to celebrate our birthdays and made a special request for uni and truffle.
Once we sat down, Charles asks us a few questions about what we might like and lets us know a bit about what he has planned for us. We trust him to create a wonderful meal for us and he does not disappoint.
We get to sit at the long bar which he works at and seeing him creating each dish was fascinating. The ingredients are so fresh and everything tastes delicious.
I hope that Charles and his partner open something again in the near future. I'll be looking out for it, whatever it may be. read more
