You can read further if you must, but let me just say that I have absolutely no hesitancy in recommending them for any architectural project. Period. But, okay, if you must know why, here you go . . . CREATIVITY - The best part about meeting with Bob and Christine is that they think of creative space use like no one else. With each project my wife and I thought, "Damn, that is an awesome idea, we would have NEVER thought about doing that." Bob and Christine make a great team, able to both dream about the possibilities as well as think through the realistic nature of those dreams. SUSTAINABILITY - I can't wait until the next project that will utilize their deep commitment to and expertise in green technology. If you are in search of architects who can help you to think through ways to preserve energy, conserve natural resources and basically help save the planet, Bob and Christine are your people! INTEGRITY - Being one who knows absolutely nothing about the technicalities of the architecture process, I have found working with Bob and Christine to be one of great attention and integrity. They are patient with the questions, thorough in their answers and never did we simply feel like clients who were paying for services. On more than one occasion we needed to scale down a project or get multiple estimates and we always felt like were given a wide breadth from which to choose. Bob and Christine not only care about the project and but they also care about the people involved. Seriously folks . . . if you are looking for someone to help you think through the entire process of a remodel, dare I say that you would be foolish NOT to give them a call and explore the possibilities. Seriously. Go. Now. Call them . . .

They are that good! I have worked on a half dozen projects with them over the years, and they have always come through for us with creative ideas and solutions. I have brought them in to rescue design projects several times when the project architect did not provide enough details. I have worked with them on whole house, extremely energy efficient remodels. Every time they have come thru and given us both great design, and great details from which to build. If you want great design you can be proud of, and plans your builder can actually build from, hire them. They will take care of you and deliver what they promise.

We loved our experience and wholeheartedly endorse Winder Gibson to anyone looking for a full service architecture firm. From the outset, Geoff and his team demonstrated an exceptional understanding of our family's needs, which they transformed into a beautiful house design that resonates with our aspirations and lifestyle. We are currently transitioning to the construction phase, and are excited to raise our family in such a thoughtfully designed space. Also, Geoff and team are true experts at navigating the San Francisco permitting process. They efficiently moved us through permitting, both reacting to feedback from the city and helping us manage our neighbors. Honestly, we could not have permitted the house without their guidance. In a city where building homes can be difficult, the one two punch of beautiful design + the knowledge and skill to get it across the line was invaluable. We are so appreciative of Geoff and team.

Communication: Andy is organized, efficient, and clear in his communications with us. He was also upfront with us from the beginning about the potential challenges our project would face, from city building regulations to neighbor considerations, but always presented solutions to the issues. Design: Andy has been able to take our high level requirements and turn them into an elegant and practical design that is above and beyond what we originally imagined. His in-depth knowledge of the city codes has also been reassuring - we really appreciate his focus on the goal of making this a smooth, low drama process. Process and Cost: Finally, Andy's wealth of vetted and reliable industry contacts has helped us determine a working budget early in the process - this has been invaluable for ensuring we're comfortable with the major changes to come. Andy and his contacts have all provided reasonable pricing, considering the scale of the project we are undertaking. We're really happy working with Andy, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any projects in SF!

Our 2nd project with Andy included the main level Kitchen, Family area, Mudroom and Powder Room. We were so impressed with Andy's design talent the first time, that we were certain we wanted to work with Andy to tackle the design challenges for the second go round. Andy again was integral to the success of the project. After receiving an initial estimate from a contractor we had worked with in the past that was higher than expected, Andy was able to offer another contractor more in line with our budget. After listening to our thoughts and concerns, Andy offered several design options, and again we were really excited with the finalized approach. Andy was able to incorporate some specific design details we wanted, and then build upon them and make them a unique feature for our project. When we were facing technical challenges with the millwork detail we incorporated into the project, Andy suggested a solution that the millworker went with to solve the problem. Andy again was great to work with through the design, both listening and offering design options we hadn't thought of. His attention to design detail really made the project. His knowledge of construction and cost were such a great asset to making our project a success. He followed through with the project from beginning to end. We Hired Andy 2x as our Architect, we highly recommend him for your project!

Since we were working with a small space (and a limited budget), Lisa and Ellis took the time to understand our needs, and then presented us with a variety of design options, offering creative solutions that matched our tastes, while making the best use of limited space. They were especially helpful in coming up with a color scheme that integrated the bathroom elements, and blended with the qualities of the adjoining room. Lisa then worked closely with us in choosing tile, paint, fixtures, window treatment, cabinetry, etc. so that they all worked together. We are completely happy with our new bathroom, and would recommend Lisa and Ellis and EASA Architecture for any design or architectural work. [Previously, we worked with EASA Architecture in a major kitchen remodel, and our satisfaction with their work at that time made them our obvious choice for this recent project.]

Then he promised to give refund but did not so I had to do a chargeback on my credit card. He made me do all the work that he was supposed to do and he would even pay respect to come even once to see the property that he is drawing. He would send me to do all kind of different measurements. I invested days of work to do his work and at the end it all failed. He never even read and understood the requirements from the City of Oakland for permit drawing which I had provided to him at the beginning. Instead of reading them he kept saying that it is additional work. And my impression was that he did not know how to do a lot of the items required for permit preparation. His communication is really hard to understand and his phone is really bad quality so at any given time I was understanding only 50% of his speech. He is very temperamental and can drop your project at any moment and leave you stuck with ton of money paid and nothing received. So you would have to start from scratch (this is what happened to me). The most shocking thing was one day he just hanged up the phone and said to look for someone else. During the course of the collaboration he would purposefully not share his files that he is working on (the software files with drawings) eventhoug I paid him money for those drawing. So your risk is he can quit without notice and you would have nothing : money gone, and no files. I would stay away from him!

Every aspect of my experience at that time was positive. Andre worked to skillfully retain the exterior flavor of the 1924 Marina-style 2/1, as we developed a taller 4/2.5, with a comfortable and functional interior. Long before any of these other reviews were written, Andre was exercising the excellent listening skills, inventive design, and superior aesthetic sense you'll read about from others. His ability to work with permitting and review processes instilled confidence as did his good relationships and communication with contractors and subs. He was tactful but clear in gently guiding me away from bad ideas I came up with myself or with friends. Invaluable. Long story short, Andre spearheaded efforts that resulted in a substantial increase in home value, enabling me to relocate comfortably in preparation for retirement. I am working with Andre again, this time for more modest projects to remodel the kitchen, add a deck, and expand the downstairs suite. Delighted he's still available, nothing has changed except his expanded experience and a great new location in Dogpatch!
