Really bad service and I don't mean the "Munich standard" which is just rude and brash but just outright unacceptable
I was standing with a friend on the bar waiting for the bartender to ask for our drink orders: not that they were busy or anything since last night's female bartender had enough time to make out with her boyfriend and the male bartender was just casually chatting with his bros
At some point, after about 20mins, I called the girl's attention and asked for "two Bonaparte sours" and she clarified if I wanted 1 or 2; and I said "zwei" and I thought she got it; she passes the drink order to the German douche who was happily handing out 6-8 gin and tonics to people who just entered the bar (great, Germans have appreciation for lines and waiting for your turn); after about 15 more minutes she comes up and hands us one -- no clear sign if the douche will still make the other or not. He proceeds shaking up some basil smashes for the two guys who finished their gin and tonics in the time it took us to get 1.
I don't want to pull the race card but I don't know -- maybe they just wanted to keep this "cool place" German-only oder. In which case, they might get their wish: I have a bunch of expat friends who refuse to be treated this way and who know that there are better places in the area... This bar doesn't even break our top 3 in the block (Fox bar, Don't Call Mama, Schall und Rauch)
Btw, if you want an old fashioned, I strongly recommend Fox bar which is just around the corner: on a Thurs night (which is normally not that heavy), expect to get your Old Fashioned in less than 10mins (and they make it great btw; the guy will even ask you if he made it to your liking); otherwise, Don't Call Mama -- down the same street and with cool 90's/00's hiphop... None of this stupid pretentious techno shit.
Anyway, I have never written a review this long but at any rate, unless something changes -- expect that me nor any of my friends will frequent this mess. Tschuss. read more
