I had a loop recorder installed by Dr Mitesh Amin MD at Cardiology Associates of Richmond in 2017…read more After it was installed, they did not follow up with me. I called and the receptionist said if they see anything they will let me know. I had pressed the button a few times and no response. I even unplugged the device entirely for 4 months and no response . I even called the office and left quite a few msgs and nobody ever called back. After a year I went into the office to schedule an appointment and the receptionist told me I had to call and make an appointment. Again I would call on multiple occassions and nobody ever followed up. I gave up and waited another year-and received a letter stating they had not heard from me and wanted to let me know they are assuming I have another doctor UNBELIEVABLE. I have been having issues with the loop recorder and want it removed. I called in 2023 multiple times and spoke to their on call who said they would ensure they got the message -they were always out of the office or at lunch or something when I called. I was able to go online and schedule an appointment 3 -4 months out. Today 9/19/23 I received an automated message stating they had cancelled my appointment that was scheduled for 9/20/2023 and to call. I did speak to someone who told me that they dont handle loop recordeers and to call another number. DO NOT GET A LOOP RECORDER-they dont monitor they dont follow up with patients and they dont respond to messages left which they insist you leave. In research I have done the loop recorders should be removed after 3 years. Dr Amin had told me it just stays in your body. I am having major issues with the loop recorder moving around , trying to break through the skin. MY opinion is -- that is was an opportunity to make money from the company which is Medtronic and I am doubtful that it was even a necessary thing I had installed. I am beyond furious with this company. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I hope my experience is an isolated case and others have had a wonderful experience with their doctor and loop recorder. Just felt compelled to pass along my experience with others.

My insurance had approved the procedure, given me the authorization number and the hospital sent a QR code for my check-in the next day. Dr. John of Cardiology of Virginia was supposed to verify with Humana, but lied saying insurance had not approved the procedure, so he cancelled it. I had proof of approval Monday, March 9th at 3:30 PM. I went to bed early Monday evening to be ready for the hospital procedure early the next morning. Dr. John left a voicemail after 10 PM lying, saying Humana had not approved and he had cancelled the procedure. I sent him the screenshot from my Humana account showing approval. I did not hear back from him after repeated texts to his phone, several messages left at their office and appeals to find out what went wrong. He finally left a voicemail on Thursday, March 12, 2026 never apologizing and joking as if the insurance company had given "us" the runaround. I changed cardiologists immediately. Being lied to, having the scheduling of my shoulder surgery (much needed due to a car accident) be postponed now twice because of Dr. John's dishonesty and terrible patient care. I am almost 75 years old and being "played" this way is unacceptable. I would never recommend Dr. John to anyone.
