I found Doctor Muhammad Asad Ali located at 1530 N Randall Rd, STE 222 Elgin, IL 60123 who accepted my Insurance. I made an appointment on August 27th 2025 for September 4th 2025 at 1:30 pm. On September 4th i walked into the office and proceeded to wait a long time. I was called into the back and was given an EKG. I was very confused about this but thought ok this is their process. Next thing i know Dr Ali came into the room and introduced himself. He proceeded to tell me that the muscles of my heart were hardening and I quote him saying " Death is knocking ! KNOCK KNOCK, KNOCK KNOCK, KNOCK KNOCK. I told him to stop. He then scheduled me for a multi test work up on the 11th of September and the results on the 18th of September. I left the office in tears. On the 11th I was given a supposed Stress test ( it was like a walk in the park), Blood taken for Labs, a 6 minute walk test, an ultra sound of my Carotids and my heart. I was sent home wearing a Holter monitor for 48 hours. On the 18th I went back to Dr. Ali's office for my results and he then said I had Ventricular Tachycardia with leaking valves. He told me I must quit smoking. I said to him then please help me because I do not want to snap or yell at my grandchildren i am raising nor my mother in law I'm taking care of. He prescribed me Bupropion and a Nicotine patch for the smocking cessation and Metoprolol for my heart. On September 20th at 2:09 pm I called Dr. Ali' number because I was very dizzy and i was short of breath and could barely stand up. I was told to call back on Monday. My husband called the pharmacy that my medication was acquired through. The pharmacist said to just take half doses. I called Dr Ali' office on Monday September 22nd at 11:57 am and was told to just give it a few days. I called again on Friday September 26th at 11:38 am and told them i was still dizzy and short of breath. They told me to go in at 2 pm. I went to the office at 2 pm and this time i had someone on the phone with me. I told Dr. Ali that I felt better 8 days prior before i quit smoking and taking medication that i was able then to clean my house and now today i lose my breath just cleaning the kitchen counter. I also stated I cut the Metoprolol in half. He very angrily yelled at me "Then go back to smoking, Just go back to smoking if you want to smoke". I myself and my friend on the phone said that that was not what I'm saying. My friend then said she should be feeling better not worse with quitting smoking but instead feel worse. Dr. Ali then said " That is because you have COPD" I said " I do?" He said " Yes you have COPD" I said where did this come from? He asked me "you have been smoking how long?" I said 40 years and he said " and you expect to not have anything?" I said no not at all but where did the COPD come from? He said your lungs are raspy. I asked him how he knew this as he never even listened to my lungs. He proceeded to snatch up a stethoscope off the desk and put it quickly to the left side of my chest then the right side, slammed the stethoscope on the desk and said "You have COPD!" At this point I'm crying because he is really upsetting me because i knew he was lying to me. I then asked about doing another test. He said " Sure we can do another test but are you prepared that if we do the test and it comes back that you have a blockage that you will need to get a stent? Are you prepared for that? I was completely dumb founded. I said are you serious? What do you think? Why wouldn't I want to fix it? Dr Ali asked how much i smoked. I answered Just over a carton a month. Dr. Ali kept stressing how smoking caused me to have COPD and i will need to find a pulmonologist. I left the office and my friend told me that the patch was too high for me for how little I smoke. I ripped it off and i didn't take the Bupropion nor the patch again. My husband called Dr. Ali's office and requested he call him back which he did. He proceede3d to ask Dr, Ali why he always raises his voice to me and make me cry. Dr. Ali told my husband " She is always crying". My husband said yes you are telling her she has a heart condition. He then asked Dr, Ali why he told me I have COPD without running the proper tests. Dr Ali told my husband that he never told me I have COPD. I in the background yelled out what a liar! On the 30th of September I was trying to walk up my stairs but I had to pull myself up with both hands on the railing. My husband looked at me and said NO you need to go to the ER right now. I went to the ER and they immediately did an EKG. They told me that it looked good for them but to wait for the Doctor to tell me. They proceeded to draw my blood for labs, Hooked me up to a Cardiac monitor and also took me for a chest Xray. I was seen there by a John Sharum PA-C. He asked me to explain what brough

My negative review of Cardiologist, Dr. Ali Valika (Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital) in Downers…read moreGrove, IL. comes on the heels of his office denying me clearance to do a knee replacement after they had initially faxed an approval letter to proceed just hours before. The back and forth with Dr. Valika's office over this knee replacement that was planned and on the books for almost a year and his approval of it is a sad joke, but I'm not laughing! My knee surgeon's office called me at around 4:45pm on Monday 1/6/25 to give me the time to come to the hospital and time of surgery. Not less than two minutes later, Dr. Valika's nurse calls me with the absolute worst possible excuse for cancellation of my surgery that was scheduled for the morning of 1/7/25. Here's why they cancelled my surgery... Last week, Dr. Valika's office didn't properly send an order for a specific CT Heart Scan test that he wanted done. I got tested for exactly what was on the order and now the nurse tells me that the test I had done was the wrong one, even though the test I had done came back clear with no issues. I tore into this clueless person on the other end of the line explaining how dumb and unfair this 11th hour reversal was, but it was to no avail. Now, because of their utter incompetence, I have to start all over again back at square one! I switched to this cardiologist because I wanted care closer to home. But as it turned out, going with the cardiology practice of Dr. Dominik Bufalino and Dr. Ali Valika was the worst decision that I've made in a long time. The staff doesn't seem to care about how their poor communication and lack of competence affects you and your needs. This doctor didn't even have the decency to get on the phone himself and talk to me personally about such a pivotal decision. I am a busy professional touring musician and teacher and the window of time that I carefully carved out for this knee surgery is now blown to bits! I am upset, I am angry, and I am telling everybody I know about this horrible medical practice! I'm going back back to my original cardiologists office no matter the distance. My former specialist treated me with respect and always talked TO me, not down to me. I will never set foot in the Bufalino/Valika cardiology office again in this life or the next!
