He argued with me when I said that the "roast beef" on the menu was just a hard steak and I wanted a soft roast beef as it was mentioned on the menu. So when I said that he went off on me saying that "yes, it is a steak indeed but locally it is called a roast beef." My point is that the waiter should have explained that the "roast beef" on the menu is just a steak and not a roast beef when I was ordering. Instead I got yelled at... The whole fried fish was alright. The duck was also alright. Their beef broth soup with dumplings was amazing, the cheese dumplings are not cheese dumplings but meatballs with some cheese inside. I wasn't told it as well but I was pleasantly surprised. Their flat cheese pancakes were delicious too. We spent over 200 Euros for four people. I cannot say we enjoyed the experience... Zams is a very small place in Austria, and the Post-Gasthof Gemse (named after the cutest mountain goat you have ever seen) is one of the only authentic Austrian restaurants around. No reservations unless your party is a substantial number, so call, get an idea of a good time to go then just wait if you have to, there is enough to entertain you in the hallway that you wont even realize the time. Order a soup. They have all the Austrian specialties: Frittatensuppe, Knödelsuppe, Kurbis soup, all fabulous. Everyone was ordering the Schnitzel - nach Wiener Art - but I decided to try their house made Frischkasse with Schweinemedaillons and Polenta. Delicious. Everything we tried (all soups and Rinderfleisch, Schnitzel, und Schweinemedaillons) was very tasty. But because the portions were huge we had NO ROOM for dessert. My dish was the 24 hr sous vide lamb with mashed potatoes and beans. It was a little different than I expected and would have benefitted from a sear at the end. But it was still quite good.
