Best burger in the county, but miss taco Tuesday, staff is friendly and happy, chicken is delicious, haven't had a bad meal there, a hidden gem read more

One of the best Burgers, crispy outer and juicy interior, really made my mouth water. Kind of a dive when you first go in, mostly regulars, all kind of look at you. read more

Don't mistake bar and grill for your typical newer family friendly places. This is a neighborhood bar filled with colorful regulars. The jukebox plays good tunes, some regulars go outside for a smoke, and can get a little handsy with one another. So basically, a great place for people watching. The menu is small, but...Holy cow! The burgers are phenomenal! Again, not a huge menu, but who cares. Burgers are sizable, juicy and cooked to perfection. The fries were also very good, cooked crispy and piping hot. Cole slaw, which I'm not a fan of, was crisp, flavorful and good. The food is really good and pretty cheap. We will definitely return to this hidden gem in Mundelein. read more

Worst experience I've ever had at any bar/ restaurant or even public facility ever! Bartender was beyond rude when my friends and I walked in. Immediately told us if we are not buying alcohol we need to get the **** out. Didn't even give us a chance to order before giving us attitude proclaiming we were loitering. Spent probably 3 minutes in this bar before leaving. Had to chug the one singular drink we ordered just to get out of there because it was clear we were not welcomed. Beyond disappointed this is a business representing Mundelein. read more

Attention! They have added a double cheeseburger to the menu, shrimp too. That gives this joint another star in my rating system. The bathrooms have been remolded as well so it's not a total dive bar but the old creaky wood floors are a sure sign of dive-dum. Loads of TV's and an area for video gaming too. They now also have broasted chicken, coleslaw and chili for catering read more

Not for everyone, but it's a nice friendly place to go. You can call it a dive bar or a neighborhood bar. The owner (cook) and bartenders have all worked there for decades, and they know allmost all the patrons, since most of the patrons are regular. The regular patrons are friendly as well. Fairly priced. The hamburgers are absolutely the best around. read more

This place is disgusting. It's someone's living room with a bar in it The food is gross and the drinks should be cheaper for this kind of establishment. read more

Taco Tuesday kicks ass. And now that fish feast is back on Fridays no need to go anywhere else. Burgers are great and you can't go wrong with the chicken fingers. read more

Great owners and staff. Foods good and drinks are better. Staffs like family. Love this no frills neighborhood bar. read more

Best burger in the area. Great chicken sandwich, too. Reminds me of the typical small bar you see in vacation areas everywhere- not fancy.

I would like everybody to know that If u r handicap. U can't go to jakes. I and my disabled girlfriend were recently asked by the owner to vacate because of our service dog. So not only can u not go in a wheel chair. But u may or may not have the police called on u for not leaving if u r handicap. My wish is that all service people boycott jake morans. read more

Went here with my boss and a coworker for lunch once, and I was pretty skeptical at first. My boss warned us beforehand that it was kind of a dive.. I had a burger (medium) with grilled onions, cheddar, and bacon. It was delicious. The grilled onions were sweet and sticky, and the bacon tasted great and bacony. The burger itself was cooked to perfection with perfect juiciness, and the bun was hot and buttery. This might be one of the best burgers I've had out. The onion rings I had were kind of bad. They were much too breaded, and ended up being slightly hard to chew. All in all, 5 stars for the burger, -1 star for the atmosphere (dirty, kind of awkward if you're not a regular). read more

The burgers at Jake Moran's are absolutely fantastic. Add fries and a beer and it'll still only cost you about $10. That being said, Jake Moran's probably isn't for everybody. Like Nate P. mentioned, this is a house converted into a dive bar. There aren't very many tables, and on the weekend it can get pretty noisy. On the other hand, I've been there on weeknights and been the only one there. As long as you're OK with the atmosphere, stop in, because you're not going to find a better burger anywhere in the area. read more

Garbage food, over priced drinks and the most rude staff I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with! never go here!!!!

Went there at midnight as soon as i turned 21. The casino me in with a vertical ID. most bars would. I even looked up the law for illinois and it said its ok to sell when its legally midnight or the day i turn 21. I guess they just cant accept vertical ID's even though i was legally 21 and the license was not expired. Had a an appointment at the DMV in the morning to get my new license that wasn't going to change their mind. I do not blame the girl who turned me down she was just doing whatever her boss or the owner told her to do. Its just difficult because i even tried to call the number that apple maps gives me for this establishment and couldnt connect wasnt a valid number. Sent me and my buddies on a disappointing walk home. Was really a buzz kill. I guess i will come back when the dmv sends me my new ID. Will be going to the casino in des plaines. They have open minds and accept 21 year olds. read more

You could easily drive by this place and not even notice. I first came here because my coworker suggested our team go there for lunch. When we got there, I was surprised because it seemed like someone's home. I'm pretty sure it is someone's house. But don't let the exterior fool you. They have the best burgers. It's pretty simple and to the point but they absolutely knock it out of the park. The burgers are juicy and just greasy enough to fill your cravings but not so greasy you feel sick afterwards. Their fries are pretty awesome too. Sometimes, they don't change the oil frequently enough so the fries have a really strange taste but that's really rare. If you love burgers, definitely try this place out! read more

It's been a while for me. Like long enough that if this bar/restaurant was a first date - I might consider overlooking the deficiencies and focus on the bigger picture. But, I just can't focus - because if smoking was still allowed inside I might not have crossed the threshold. And then the pleasant bar tender brought the jalapeño poppers. Overlook the cobwebs overing the television, the wood floor so beer stained it seems to be withering in despair, the bar rail that looks like a million elbows have leaned on it. And then she brought out our sandwiches. Myself and another in our party had burgers. Thick sliced onion, a generously buttered and grilled bun and a juicy and tasty patty cooked to order good stuff. The tomato was thick sliced but insipid almost disappointed to even be created a winter tomato having been denied it's summer flavor potential. My friend had a bacon chicken grill which he enjoyed thoroughly. But back to the poppers - each was 1/2 a sliced pepper generously stuffed with cream cheese or cheddar, battered and fried served piping hot with ranch that had just the right amount of pepper for this ranch loving Midwestern girl. Yes, it's a dive bar. For sure. And it wouldn't be my choice for a late night hang out really. But to watch a game, grab carry out, eat a Saturday afternoon burger with friends - absolutely. The server we had was friendly. The owner I can only imagine that was him was outside washing windows. Not 5 stars because - cobwebs and my Mind running off to what else isn't clean cause that's what I do. The food was great. I will return should my travels ever take me back through! read more

Man, these are the best burgers. I'm here from Texas for school and I thought I'd never find just a decent burger joint. But Jakes is more than just decent, it's awesome. The bun is toasted (how is that not a thing up here yet,) they don't put that awful stuff called ketchup on it, the meat is cooked perfectly, and how in the heck does the cheese stay soft all the way to the end of me eating it??? A friend of mine and I go every Tuesday because this place is freaking awesome. read more

Taco Tuesday this is the place to be.....Great $1 tacos a very good selection of beers including haacker pschorr on tap......and great service read more

Here is all you need to know about Jake Moran's: 1. It's a dive in every sense of the word. 2. Bartenders have always been friendly and attentive. 3. Food is always hot and prepared right. 4. Burgers are especially (and surprisingly) good. 5. Prices are very reasonable. 6. Beer selection is basic but they usually have a couple good taps. 7. Atmosphere is your typical neighborhood bar--basic, laid back, welcoming. You can come as you are. You have to be in the right mood to go to a place like Jake Moran's. For us, that mood is usually "worked out in the yard all afternoon and didn't feel like making lunch and/or changing to go somewhere nicer." read more

Phenomenal Burgers & some of the best Broasted Chicken around. 4 piece Broasted Chicken with Broasted Potatoes & slaw for $5 all day Sunday. $3 beers & $3 shots. How can you go wrong? read more

This place is mind-blowing. In a very shitty way. If he owner is there just walk out. No joke anything you get sucks and comes with a half a head of lettuce. A BLT is 8 dollars and has 2 inches of lettuce on top of 2 strips of bacon. Tuesday tacos tho!!! Just get there right when they start because they will be out of them within 10 minutes despite the 7 people there. Have your order ready for a drink too because you have a 5 second window to decide what else you want because there are out of every beer too...then they walk away as if they are busy. Can't stress enough the deadbeat owner goes nearly every night and the very few bartenders that aren't total shits will become that way because he encourages it. Luckily for them nobody will read this because it's in the middle of a residential area and you'll completely miss it anyways. read more

We went out for lunch as a group of 7 from work on Monday and all had phenomenal burgers for lunch. A perfectly cooked medium rare burger with a must add grilled onions on a delicious bun served with fries for an extra buck. With tip it came out to $10 a head. The only negative (for some) is the size of the place. It is a converted house into a dive bar/restaurant. When you walk in you will some locals having their afternoon beers playing the one golden tee machine and watching the news on an overwhelming amount of flat screen tv's placed throughout the place but there are only 5 or so tables and the rest of the place is filled with an oversized bar. I suggest getting there at 11:30ish as described by some of my friends who have been going there for years if you want a table to sit at as opposed to the bar for lunch. A must stop for the burger lover within 10 miles of this place. read more

I stopped in here to meet my mom and family friends and what terrible awkward service! I'm not picky and understand this is a divey neighborhood bar but the bartender was sooo rude... I don't if it's because she recognized my bf & I from h.s. and she's still hanging out in this sad town picking up our empty bottles but I definitely won't ever be stopping in here again! read more

This is such a little gem, great place to have a beer and burger on a nice afternoon. Very attentive and great food.

What a diamond in the rough. Excellent broasted chicken, fabulous burgers super coleslaw. I was told the food was good but it was more. Heard that taco tuesday is even better. Thank you really liked your place. read more

Everything you expect from a dive bar. It's a small little bar that has a nice hometown feel to it. I love the bartenders here...the service is on point! They have great prices and my friends enjoyed the food that they serve here. I did not get to taste any of the food, but definitely intend to next time I return. read more

What a cool neighborhood dive bar! I just happened upon the place, and was a bit intimidated walking in shortly after midnight on a Monday, but I ended up having a great experience. The bartender, Aiden I believe, seamed weary of an out of town face at first, but was beyond friendly and personable after a few minutes. The local crowd was fun, down to earth, and talked sports and traveling. The drinks were reasonable, and the bar was a unique, home like atmosphere. Hopefully I'll be back sometime to try the burgers! read more

3.5 years ago my boyfriend brought me here after our first date and we've been coming back together ever since! Awesome people and place!!

Ok seriously, great reviews of this dive bar peeked my interest and we went to check it out. Decor was slummy, bar tender was extremely crass talking about getting drunk or high, burger seems nothing more than a frozen patty on a butter soaked bun, fries were lame and cole slaw was laughable, but the ranch for the onion rings was pretty good. And it's not cheap, we spent 40 bucks on a beer an app and a couple burgers...Yelp has disappointed me on this restaurant... But maybe I'm not a dive bar person? read more

Definite dive bar!!! Loved it, can't believe we have been padding this place for more than 20 years and hadn't been there before! We will be back!! Had delicious cheeseburgers and the cole slaw was great, sweet kind but yummy! read more

Yes this mainly is a bar however they hands down have the best burger around. Juicy, made to order, onions rings crispy, and the staff remembers you even though you are not a regular. We are odd drinking wine with our burgers instead of beer, but you are eating the equivalent of a steak when you eat one of these. Slaw is great too! read more

Great little bar! Clean and friendly people with the cool Chicago neighborhood feel. Has gaming and really cold beer!

I have lived in 5 major cities in the US and travelled the world... This "dive" is my favorite place in the world for a beer and a burger. Not only is the food top notch, but the owner, bar tenders , and customer are salt of the earth awesomeness. I come here for the food AND honest conversation. Also... I have a all addiction to their pickles. Weird I know, but soooo good. read more

I decided to check this place out after reading fellow yelper reviews. Burger and fries were great! Good portion, bbq sauce was warm and good! Bacon was not the cheap usual kind. Only complaint is the bloody mary did not taste good. Staff was very helpful and service was amazing! Def would go back again, and recommend you at least try it once! read more

It took me awhile to finally decide to come here, but I was not disappointed. No joke, they server a good burger. Definitely a dive bar, but it was very comfortable. Bartender was friendly and you felt like you could join in the conversation with the regulars. I highly recommend you put the dive bar description aside and give this place a try. read more

Ever since they passed the smoking band I can't get enough of this place. The steak sandwich(which is also great) was the only thing my wife would order until one time she had a bite of my bacon burger, It's now a toss up for her. The burgers are always juicy and very flavorful. The service is great too. Try the fries and get grilled onions on the burger. read more

Great place ! Moved back from the city to the burbs and missed my local corner tavern until I found this place. Billy the owner is GREAT. Burgers are the BEST, ranch dresing is SO good I love to dip my fries in it and the slaw is awesome.
