I don't even smoke - and still, love to go whenever in my former hometown. The atmosphere is fantastic, and I could not disagree more than with the one odd low rating "you can find substitutes cheaper on the internet." Of course, you can - no chance to test, try, smell, taste - and no atmosphere - let alone extremely knowledgeable staff you can recommend and advise. Sorry Dude, you entirely missed the point of this place - and disqualify yourself. By the way: this place is also highly recommended if you need a small gift or home accessory (I mostly go because of their "Weinbergpfirsischlikör" - you missed something in your life if you never tried one ;-)

I can only review a wine tasting we attended in the vineyard itself, hosted by Rüdiger Kröber and…read morehis wife. We learned about the difficulties of horticulture on such steep slopes, the benefits of slate soil and, of course, the effects of bad (wet) weather on the vintage. Harvesting wine under these conditions takes years of experience and passion, which the Kröbers, with the whole family being involved in the business, definitely possess. The wines ranged from a sparkling wine to a sweet (white) wine - or wine from a late harvest, with the basis being the Riesling grape. Mr. Körber is very knowledgeable, and prices range from around €6 for a Rosé wine to €30 and €50 for a sweet and ice wine respectively, with most wines being very reasonably priced. You can order wine online, and book wine tastings at the vineyard (weather permitting) or in the cellars. It's a beautiful part of Germany and I can only recommend visiting, especially in autumn for the harvest festivities.

They does not serve standard dishes, but strives for individuality, with a good atmosphere, attentive service. The place was well attended, middle-class audience; nevertheless, it was not loud (the audience knew how to behave, unfortunately not a matter of course today). It lacks any kind of flexibility though. First, they ran out of spinach. OK. They recommended the arugula with cherry tomatoes instead. Fine with us. Then they realized that's gone too. My business associates - a regular there - suggested that the wonderful Turkish veggie market around the corner is still open ;-) Not even a smile :-( They have what they have - period. The somewhat high price-performance ratio was OK. Not a top gourmet restaurant, but recommended for a night out, particularly when you want to dine as a couple. Would I go again? Possibly. Would I drive 30+ min detour just to dine here (mandatory in my rating scheme to achieve five stars). Sorry, no. Both service and food were simply not good enough, I was tempted to give three stars, but if in doubt - I did not want to hurt the restaurant as our guests and other guests seemed to be happy.
