This school has amazing academics. But horrible people. It is not worth sending your child to this school. Kids are bullied mercilessly. Your kid may have fit in just great at every other school, but they will get slaughtered here. There are so many horror stories I could say about this school.
This school has, hands down, the best academics I have ever seen a school have. Very advanced especially for a K-8th. Kids in this school go far. Far aways, sometimes to places like Harvard. It is a great school as far as academics go. The reason this review has one star.
An example of a normal, accepted, activity that would happen at this school would be something like. "Let's throw stuff at this one, specific kid, during recess. So during recess he would get balls and chucked at him as hard as these kids could throw. The worst part of this story. Is that it was played so often that it actually became a game played during PE, showing that the school supported this kind of bullying. Five variations, based on attempting to hurt this kid were made out of that game. All played as a reward during PE.
Now, you may disbelieve me when I say the school supported the bullying. But this school, if you have lots money, and where popular would look the other way. Sadly, this is something I cannot stress enough. Money, if you show you have it, via buying 300$ brand name shoes, and clothes and shirt, and being 'up with all the latest trends', your child will be treated okay. If you have money, and don't show it off, you will get looked down upon. If you don't have money you will be looked down upon. It is sad but true.
Now let's say you have a nice, well-mannered, child who makes some friends and is generally a happy kid, although shy sometime. DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. One of two things will happen. Sometime both. They will either be bully and rejected or they will bully and reject. You child will either be depressed or a snotty monster. I have never seen anyone stand up for another person in this school. And when I say anyone. I haven't even seen teachers stand up for students getting blatantly bulled infront of them. In fact I have seen them join in. Also, people if your child is a hellion, it won't beat them down. They will beat others down.
Starting in that school during kindergraten does not mean your child will be safe from all the horrible things that happen at this school. Granted, that they have more of a chance to bond with the kids, unlike transfer students, so they is less of a chance of bullying. But not so much. If you are thinking to transfer your child here. Do not. Every transfer kid I have talked to has gotten relentless bullied. Most often you can break the reason down to one thing. Money. Kid here get bullied because their family, either doesn't have or doesn't flaunt their income status. If you dress strange, or just not brand name clothes and bags, they will get bullied. Even if you do, if you don't have money you will get bullied. If you like to read, you will get bullied. If you are loud...If you listen to different music...you will get bullied.
Sadly you cannot run away from bullying its not like it just happens on the playground. It is all the time. The teachers who allow this kind of bullying disgust me and this school is full of them. Bullying happens during class, from both students and teachers.
If you are trying to make friends at this school, unless you have been there since kindergraden, where you make friends by sharing a crayon and eating lunch at the same table, you will have a hard time making friends. A very hard time. only the rejected and massively bullied kids will be friends with you. They would sit by you and talk with you and show interest. The rest will go off and ignore you, even if you sit by each other, they will look at you like you are annoying and why couldn't someone else sit by them.
Now that I have graduated from this school. I have gone back a talked to many other graduates of it, in different years. One conclusion came to be. Most of the bullies did not want to bully. Most of them were just following three or four instigator in their grade. Everyone felt pressured to conform. Where the same thing, have the same opinions, dislike the same people. People in this school were scared as hell to be just a little different because they know, everyone would look at them and scrutinize them, and make them feel horrible. Everyone was so afraid that they would become a pariah, if they tried to be unique. They were worried that they would become just like the people that they in turn had bullied. Although I would like to note not everyone was sorry that they bullied people, most just don't even care and still bully.
It gets better in high school. But these academics in this middle school are not worth the mental scaring that this will do to your child. This school will hurt them more than it could ever help. Please don't go to this school. read more
