At the time, my husband and I were both working up in Vancouver, so we had a house sitter. A representative from Andrew Mason asked our house sitter if they could park a wood chipper at the base of our driveway. We thought this was odd, because our neighbors have a driveway too, so..... We told our house sitter that was fine, assuming we'd still have use of our driveway. Unfortunately, they took it upon themselves to park the wood chipper IN our driveway for over a week. They actually used our driveway as a staging area for where the branches were dumped and chipped, made a huge mess of it, and damaged it - permanently. They also drug branches through OUR side yard so as to not screw up our neighbor's landscaping and failed to replace all the bark we had recently put down. They neglected to mention they would be using our property for this purpose. My husband tried discussing it with our neighbor but she was rude and defensive. I can see why since she was embarrassed and wasn't the one responsible for what they were doing; Andrew Mason was. I tried discussing this with Andrew, and at first he seemed contrite, but after he saw the driveway he said he couldn't see any damage and said "I don't know what you want me to do." The only option was to ask him to repave those two sections of the driveway. At the time, we were in the process of selling the house to friends; we opted to tell them about the damage and let them decide if they'd like us to help them negotiate with him or take him to small claims court. Lucky for Andrew, our friends are extremely gracious people. At no time during our conversations did Andrew lead me to believe he felt his company had done anything wrong. I have every reason to believe he would abuse the generosity of other neighbors in the future, so if you want to keep your neighbors on your side, I'd avoid this company for your tree-removal needs.
