Came in here with family. Older lady at front refused to sell to me because she needed to see everyone's IDs. After half of us showed ID's, the younger cashier now tells us that it doesn't apply if we're related(never mentioned that)... proceeds to not check parent's IDs at all. Older lady came off hostile off the bat, and they most likely got spooked when they saw younger people come in. Seems like they don't really know what they're talking about as far as their liquor laws go. read more

Definitely the biggest liquor store I've ever been into... the size of a small grocery store, but entirely dedicated to booze, it's definitely a sight to behold. I have been a patron of this store for the past 4 years. This had been my first choice when it comes to stores until today. I will no longer shop at this location! In the 4 years I have rarely walked out spending less than $60. Today as I walked to the back I spotted some wine in the center isle; a rosé. There were 3 bottles arranged with a price label on one of them for $14. I decided to buy it and reserve it for a special occasion. After shopping and walking the center isle back to the register, I double checked the price again. Yep, label left on the 3rd bottle. While at the checkout the bottle rang up at $20. I explained the price on the bottle said $13.99 (to be exact.) He sent for a price check. 2 guys decended to the table housing the rosé wines. I stepped into direct sight of the table, saw the guy take the tag off, read it, and put it on another bottle. He brought the bottle I got and then another bottle with the tag on it and told me that "this bottle (now holding the tag on it) was sitting next to the bottle" I had selected. I replied that the tag was on the bottle I chose and I had double checked it. I explained there were 3 sitting on the table and the 3rd bottle had the tag on it. He then replied "If the bottle had been mislabeled, we would honor the price but since it was on the bottle next to it, we can't". I chose not to get the bottle of wine. After finishing checkout, I walked back to see the 2 remaining bottles sitting there, neither one wearing a tag. Upon exiting I spoke to the manager explaining what had happened and that her employee lied to me. She just simply said "Sorry." It is one thing to just simply say "I'm sorry, the wine was mislabeled and the price for this on is $19.99. That would have been fine. Unethical and dishonest practices have cost them my business. Anyone who lies to your face and any manager who supports that DOES NOT DESERVE MY BUSINESS! At least the man in the Hawaiian shirt watching the Olympics at the wine counter still has his job. read more

Jacob's is to wine (and to a lesser extent, liquor) as Goebel is to beer. This large warehouse of alcohol devotes a majority of its space to aisles and aisles of wine from every corner of the globe. That's not to say the beer selection is poor - quite the opposite. Prices here seemed to be a little lower than where I usually shop, too. read more

When I head back to the family homestead, I'm swiftly reminded of my Seattlelite lazy decadence with which I can thoughtlessly pick up bottles or cases of wine along with my groceries and browse myriad microbrews to see which one's coming home with me for the night. In the Bible belt, accomplishing the mission of procuring the evening's necessary beverages takes a bit more planning and effort. Fortunately, Jacob Liquor exists as a way to easify my shopping as much as possible. I've never actually perused the wine section, but considering it takes up about a third or more of the huge store (which used to be a Barnes and Noble when I was younger, for a sense of scale), I'm sure I'd find plenty to love. But when I'm traveling, I prefer to hone in on local or relatively local beers, ones I can't get at home. It makes the night so much more festive! And Jacob Liquor doesn't disappoint on this front. You can mix and match six-packs with a great selection of twelve-ounce bottles, or focus your energies on the larger bombers. Lots of beers have useful RateBeer tags and reviews, and I was able to find plenty of regional brews that I've either never heard of, or can't find in the PNW. Pretty much everything that Boulevard brews is here, and there's a generous selection of plenty of Colorado breweries as well. And Wednesdays gets you a discount on microbrews: perfect, since that's the evening I happened in! There's plenty of beer beyond micros here, so if your tastes run more to standard, be assured you'll find pretty much anything you need or want. Friendly service folks roam and offer help without being pushy, and there's plenty to explore on your own. We come from Salina to buy wine from your stores. Normally the west store and have never had a bad experience. We usually spend about $300 a visit. We typically work with Andrew and he helps us pick new wines and is amazing. Today we went to the east side and asked to use the restroom and were told they didn't have one and were later told that was against liquor laws. I have used the restroom at this location before so I know that to be false. This was disheartening for an employee to so rude as to lie to me about current liquor laws. It is the little things in life that make me want to give my money to a business. I felt like my money and business were not valued so we left without making a purchase. All I can say is WOW, this place is huge! It makes a BevMo store look small in comparison. If you love wine, half their store is dedicated to it. Beer? I found a lot of beers I haven't seen before. They had a great wine I tasted at a local restaurant and couldn't find online or Total Wine in my city. I mentioned this and the employee told me they do supply local restaurants. The only thing was that he mentioned to the cashier that I would get a "wine bag" which I didn't ask for; the cashier loaded my 6 bottles into the wine bag but also charged me for the wine bag; I had thought it was complimentary due to the large purchase. I really didn't ask for it; didn't know they had those since I'm from out of town. The employee didn't offer it up as something I might want, he just said if I wanted 6 bottles I could get a wine bag. Other than that it looks like a fine store. read more

This is the best liquor store that I have ever been to. They have a huge variety of wine, beer, and liquor with lots of unique flavors. Make sure everybody with you has their ID's or they won't sell to you. They will allow your very young children to go in with you but not older kids. The rewards program will pay off. read more

We drive 10 minutes out of our way, and past 5 other liquor stores just to go to Jacob's because of their exceptional selection and also the service!! Even when we call to check stock for a specific wine we receive great service over the phone. There have been a few times when they have been out of stock of something we were looking for and we received great advice and have found new wines and beers that are now new favorites!! On a side note, it is also the most cost effective place we have found on any specialty items and even most of the standards that we get. read more
