When I asked for a referral the clinic manager called and was rude. She refused to give me a referral because a new doctor might be late. When I repeatedly explained being late on occasion was not the problem and the doctor had been 15 minutes late our ladt appointment time she told me to get care outside off Allina or get my meds from my primary doctor. So if you say anything negative about a doctor or the clinic they refuse service.

I began going to Allina primarily for my weekly allergy shot injections but also to be under the care and supervision of a psychiatrist. Since Allina is close to St. Olaf, it seemed like it would be easy and convenient. Sadly, my experiences at the Northfield Allina Health Clinic have been negative. First, despite having a regular appointment time every week, I am often waiting for a while after my appointment time to be seen. Second, the individual administering my allergy shots tends to speak to me in a condescending and rather insulting manner. Yes I am on the autism spectrum, but I am an adult and I don't need to be talked-down-to by my medical provider that I am paying for. Third, they have a policy where you MUST wait 30 minutes after receiving your allergy shot (in contrast, my allergy injection clinic at home in Illinois typically does not make me wait, and when I rarely do have to it is only for 10 mins; also, I have epi-pens and have had no adverse reactions in the past so this policy just wastes my time. Fourth, my family helped me set up care with a psychiatrist at the start of the school year. A month or so ago, I found out my psychiatrist was unexpectedly leaving the Allina Health Clinic. They assured me they would transfer me to another psychiatrist at the clinic for continuity of care. Well that was a lie. The soonest appointment with this new psychiatrist was not until three months going forward. Yikes. As if that wasn't bad enough, Allina called me to tell me they had an earlier opening for a 7:45 am appointment in January. I was excited and relieved I would get to see my psychiatrist sooner. Then they tell me the provider actually doesn't come in that early, that I will have to reschedule, and that they already gave my original March appointment to someone else so it will take even longer to see someone. Seriously!? You call me to reschedule me to a time slot that actually doesn't work and then refuse to give me priority to my original appointment date and time? Avoid this clinic at all costs. The only reason I still use them is because I am their hostage / have no other choice. I am not allowed to administer my own allergy shots, the St. Olaf nurse's office does not administer allergy shots, and the Northfield hospital does not administer allergy shots either. So for now I'm stuck with them unless I decide to drive for an hour into Minneapolis or St. Paul for better quality and more professional healthcare.

They respect my time, and if I have an appointment at a certain time, I'm called back at that time. I really appreciate that, and according to the receptionist, all of the doctors are like that. - Patient! I often bring up several issues and questions, and Dr. Dixon listens to each one patiently and responds. She's very understanding, and I never feel rushed. - Easy to schedule appts! They are always available when I want an appointment. And they're flexible too. Plus they called me two days in advance to remind me about my appointments. - Freebies! They give away these hand sanitizer pens and bandwidth sets at the reception desk. - Clean and modern! The office is up-to-date and always very clean. I feel like I'm in a new office that is regularly maintained and kept up to high standards. Bad: - For pregnant women, you always want the person delivering your baby to be the doctor you've seen throughout the whole pregnancy. This is a group of doctors, so if I go into labor in the middle of the night, then it'll be whichever of the four doctors is on call that night, not necessarily mine. Also, my obgyn is on vacation the week I'm due, which means I'll probably be delivering under another doctor's care, which I don't like especially because I chose this doctor for her high caliber resume. But, that's actually very common, so it's not surprising. Overall, this place is great and I can't recommend it high enough.
