The course was a 1 mile circuit that lead us thru a section of the Murray Hill district. Being Thanksgiving morning, traffic was very light in the area & made for an enjoyable run. Post-Run refreshments were plentiful! They had fruit, bagels, sweet rolls and turkey roll-ups (just enough to not spoil dinner). They also provided a round of their freshly brewed beverages - a Pilsner & a Christmas Ale (which was quite tasty)! The registration fee was very low for this event (earlybird $10 & later went up to $15), so it makes for a great family outing to work off some early calories! Lots of smiles and happy faces - look forward to doing it again next year!

Now,…read morethis was my first time attending a rodeo as well as visiting this center, so I did not know what to really expect. However, it ended up being a really great experience. Even though it was packed for the Rodeo, there was ample seating, ample areas to eat, and various vendors (food and otherwise). There are elevators if you need them, and the bathrooms are large. There is ample parking, so you don't have to fret too much about that. It is definitely a family-friendly center with enough outdoor areas to set up trailers / RVs. I would say bring a portable fan and some water because it does get pretty toasty in the center. Nonetheless, the views from bleachers - no matter where you sit - are GREAT! The Black Rodeo put on an epic show, and I am looking forward to going back next year to see what they have in store for us.

A small petting zoo, blow up Christmas decorations, toy soldiers on stilts, characters and Snow! The course winds through the beautiful San Marco neighborhood and is lined with luminarias (I tried to take pics - but I was running so fast, they were all blurry - insert laugh track here!) Due to COVID - masks were enforced pre-race and starts were done in waves. First Place Sports managed the run to benefit The Children's Miracle Network. Great way to start the Holiday Season & work off Thanksgiving!

I had asked if there was a possibility that they might go the next day and they said yes so we asked them to hold our reservation for a day and see if we could still get the tour. The tour company refused to do the tour if there was only two people and I just thought that was a bad way to do business. They did refund the money.

When I spoke to the director a few weeks ago, he told me they served over 2.5 million children since they started in 1979. They see close to 45,000 students every season. They do all this on a very small budget, with very little stuff. Support them with your attendance AND if you can, financially.

We're going on our third year now. JFC has a bunch of programs: Rec, Bridge, Academy, Competitive. Rec League: We've had the same volunteer coaches for three years. They've all been great. No yelling, no "my kid is going to the MLS at age 9" energy. Just good people teaching kids how to play and have fun. My kids have gotten a lot better and more importantly, they actually enjoy playing. Rec uniforms aren't on any kind of cycle. You buy it once and your kid wears it until it doesn't fit anymore. Love that. Bridge Program: If your kid wants more than Rec but competitive sounds intense, Bridge is that perfect middle step. More structure, more skills, but still fun, and build confidence without getting overwhelmed. Competitive Program: My youngest is 6 and plays Competitive. The coaches are paid and trained. They've been really good with him. He's learning a ton and still comes off the field smiling, which is all I care about at this age. Uniforms (Bridge & Competitive): Those do run on a two-year cycle. They're not cheap (We Got Soccer never is), but at least you know you're good for two years. I won't sugarcoat it none of this is cheap, especially with three kids. A sibling discount would be amazing if they ever offer one. Facilities: Patton Park has good fields, one stadium field with lights, several full-size lit fields, and smaller ones. Grass is usually in great shape. Parking is a nightmare (just being honest), bathrooms are okay, and the concession stand has saved us more than once on long soccer weekends. My kids love it. The coaches have been great. The community is solid. And out of every soccer league we've tried in Jacksonville, JFC has been the one where my kids grew the most and actually had fun doing it, and that's what matters.

The club offers several programs, some being recreational, academy, and competitive. It's a lot to navigate. On the REC side, the coaches are volunteers. We've been lucky with the volunteer coaches we gotten (and kept for the last 3 years), they've been knowledgeable, professional, and kind (not one has yelled at the kids or been disrespectfully competitive). They've kept the game fun and competitive for the kids. I've seen a lot of growth in my kids abilities and confidence. It's an added bonus that the parents are chill too. The competitive program has paid, trained coaches. I have one kid who does competitive. No complaints. The coach was good. My kid (6y) learned soccer skills and most importantly, had fun. Yes, it's expensive. A sibling discount (any discount) would be helpful if offered. Uniforms are purchased through We Got Soccer, also pricey, but unlike other leagues, JFC doesn't force you into buying new ones every year. My kids have worn the same uniforms for three years and they've held up great. The club offers a free training session for kids that also serve as informational sessions for the parents. They're essentially informational where you can talk with staff, ask questions, and learn how the programs work while the kids play. The facilities at Patton Park are solid: one lit full-size stadium field, multiple lit full-size fields, and a few unlit junior fields. The grass is usually in good shape and the environment feels professional. Parking is a beast, even with a huge lot! The bathrooms are... meh. Could definitely be better. And the on-site food concession is a nice bonus during long game days. Overall, JFC delivers good coaching and solid competition (especially if your kids want to go all the way aka college).

We rode in the open car and loved how brisk the weather was. It made it feel like Christmas. The characters on the train were very friendly and came around to take pictures. I know it…read morewasn't going to be spookie so was even more excited. $20 an adult $15 for 5 yr old, that includes train ride for an hour!!! We have never been to St Mary's Ga, and never have been on a train before. Super pumped!!! We live an hour away. Got there @ 1:50 for our 2 o'clock ride... couldn't find where to park or pick up our tickets we ordered online! Started to freak out bc 10 mins prior of train leaving!!! We had to ask the tent venders beside the building where to go! We get in the dark building where consignment items everywhere! That doesn't bother me but we got lost,didn't know what the venders meant. But all the way up the steps inside the building was this lady in a dark area where we got our tickets. We get on the train which is open cart, now we can relax. We left right on time! The host of the whole train talked and talked and talked. Pirates looked cool, they board the train to slay the zombies. On the way to kill the zombies we listened to old and new music some good some bad. All "G" rated. Defiantly thankful to not listen to someone talk the whole time! Haha pirates walked around talking to kids. Passed out coins and stickers. After a 30min ride we stop at the "zombies section". The pirates got off to fight the zombies. One of the stunt guns broke which kinda messed the script up. They pushed threw haha. By the way...They aren't actors, they are all volunteers so thankful for their time! The pirates for our trip didn't slay the zombies. So we left one pirate to fight them off himself ((fix the gun problem)) lol We took off for our train ride again and we are now going back the way we just came. Only cool view is going over Burrell Creek I assume ((photo attached)). So we saw the same view twice. Which was behind homes and some businesses. I am making this review to let you know what to expect. They aren't paid actors. They are local residents of St Mary's volunteers. No crazy landscape to look at or landmarks while on train. We were facing the right side (if you look at train not on it). Us personally won't be going again. Again we live an hour away... after train ride there isn't much to do in city after that. Unless you love antique shopping!!! I have 2 young kids that break things lol so we drove to park a mile down towards the water. It killed time while we were figuring what else to do.
