After stumbling across the one review of MMRC that I see posted in Yelp, I cannot let this gross…read moreinjustice go unaddressed, nor can I fathom how anyone could give MMRC less than a 5-star rating ... and I would go far beyond that if I were allowed to do so. My first experience with MS. Rehab was in 2008, I believe, when my wife -- who was wheelchair-bound by Multiole Scleroses and severe scoliosis -- had undergone urostomy surgery. I spent every night in her room with her for three weeks, and I eye-witnessed the best nursing and rehabilitation care one could hope to find anywhere on Planet Earth, not merely in the Jackson community. Her room and all areas of the facility were (and still are!) very well designed to meet the needs of professional proficiency and to extend the highest imaginable level of comfort and a nurturing atmosphere for patients, family, and visitors in terms of lovely decor and high quality, state-of-the-art equipment and furnishings -- all maintained immaculately by courteous staff who diligently avoid disturbing either activities or rest for patients and their guests. And the food has no resemblance to ordinary "hospital food" -- MMRC's is very, very tasty, fresh, nutritional, and downright good ... and I am a picky eater! Eight years later in 2016, I suffered a stroke, after which I was very fortunate to be admitted to MMRC for rehabilitation so I could return to functioning in my career. As chance would have it, my MS-disabled wife underwent a surgery that was essential to her relief of chronic pain as well as her functionality. MMRC admitted her under unusual circumstances because the two of us would have to learn how to help each other with tasks which we suddenly found ourselves incapacitated to perform individually as we'd always done. This time I experienced the extraordinary care of MMRC both as an observer of the care given to my wife (whose room was in another section of the facility from mine because our needs for treatment were different) AND I myself experienced the Center as a patient. My wife and I were able to enjoy meals together and visit in each other's room as well as the quite comfortable public spaces. Our therapists were notably outstanding, taking personal interests in our rehabilitation and in every other aspect of our well-being. Both of us soon counted a number of personnel as new friends who demonstrated that they cared deeply for us. Since leaving MMRC as a patient and as a family member, I've heard personal accounts from numerous others who would subscribe to and endorse the same testimony I've given here, no doubt having more tributes to offer, in fact. Several of them suffered from spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and many other forms of accidents and afflictions that I might assume were more traumatic and threatening to living a quality lifestyle than were the issues which put Anne and me under MMRC's care. I could write pages and pages more, but I believe I should stop here. for the sake of brevity. I assure those who read this that nothing of what I've said is exaggerated, embellished, or otherwise hyperbolic. I am and always will be indebted to MS. Methodist Rehab for their world-class service to my wife and to me. MMRC is among U.S. News & World Report's highest rated rehabilitation centers in the country, and that list includes facilities serving substantially larger metropolitan areas than ours. I know of no institution of any kind anywhere that could match the high esteem in which I hold Mississippi Methodist Rehabilitation Center!

this might be a bit lengthy. I travelled from Ontario Canada to be with my son in Mississippi…read morewhere he goes to school on a baseball scholarship. Unfortunately, I had a lot of issues go on at the airport and was unable to get my rental vehicle that I paid for. The purpose of my trip was my son was getting elbow surgery. I'll start off by saying that Dr. McCraney was incredible and I was very happy with the staff team. But being in Flowood, Mississippi was not easy without a vehicle and following my son's surgery. I needed to get to a pharmacy to get my son's post surgery prescriptions filled. After his surgery every Uber and taxi company I contacted was either more than a 30 minute wait or $70 because they were out of the area. The reason for my lengthy message is I want to acknowledge two nurses, Beth and Carrie. When I think of southern hospitality, I will always think of these two incredible individuals. Even after a long day at work after my Sons surgery, and aware of our situation, they drove my son and I to two different pharmacies. Beth even came into the pharmacy with me to help me out with the prescription while Carrie tended to my son who was still coming off of anaesthetic. Once our prescription was filled, these ladies dropped my son and I off to our hotel. No reward, no money, just plain kindness to my son, and I who would have been stuck paying and waiting for transportation. I wish there was more we could do to repay Beth and Carrie for their kindness. But I at least wanted to take the time to write a review about the kindness I experienced at capital ortho. And certainly a reminder that humanity still has hope. I'll always remember the date when two nurses drove all around Flowood, Mississippi for two Canadians stuck in the middle of nowhere. God bless both of them.

Of all the surgeries I've ever had, the hip replacement surgery was the best. it's hard to imagine that you can get the biggest joint in your body replaced and be up walking around afterwards. The first 2-3 weeks was the only downside, if you can call it that, it's more about impatience to get back driving etc. I'd let him operate on me any day of the week. Highly recommend.

My mother was in tears for hours after leaving her first ever appointment with Dr. Amundson…read moreyesterday morning. During the visit, she experienced treatment that both she and I believe was influenced by prejudice. The lack of compassion and coldness while addressing her is something she has never experienced from a surgeon or doctor before. Every symptom and issue she described, he repeatedly insisted was a mental health concern and that she should consult a psychiatrist. Her recent medical history could not have been fully reviewed because she has already seen two psychiatrists, as requested by the insurance company. Both psychiatrists determined that she is competent and that her ongoing and severe pain is not a psychological issue. He claims to have studied her most recent MRIs, yet both scans she has had in the last six months show that she has arthritis, a tumor, and degenerative disc disease. The DDD is causing her L4 and L5 bones to grind against each other. Yet he looked my mother in her face and said "you are not in pain and need to seek a psychiatrist." He also stated that the discectomy that she underwent surgery for in 2023 for a bulging disc was "unnecessary and useless".
