I have a child who needed braces and we were referred to Murdock Orthodontics in Indian Land. When…read morewe made the appointment over the phone with the receptionist, I knew right away that this office cares deeply about each patient new and current because she was genuine on the phone and made sure that we had all the necessary information and was willing to help out anyway she could. When we get to the office, we received the same type of genuine attention and care from the receptionist. The free consultation took about 15 minutes and Dr. Murdock was professional, easy going and down to earth. He was able to explain in layman's terms what was happening with my son and what needed to be done and how long the treatment would take. Neither the staff or Dr. Murdock put any pressure on us to commit right away but gave us the financial information and also gave a referral to another orthodontist in the area so we would be able to compare. To me this showed how honest and sincere Dr. Murdock is. WoW! In the end we decided to go with Murdock Orthodontics because of the friendly atmosphere, budget friendly, the great customer service and of course Dr. Murdock. He has a great disposition with children and is able to make them feel at ease and comfortable. When I noticed that my other child might need braces, I immediately took her there and Dr. Murdock was very upfront and honest about what he recommended, he provided the same attention and friendly disposition that I've come to know. Even though my daughter doesn't need braces right now, I know in the future where to take her. I couldn't see myself going anyplace else. A big thank you to Dr. Murdock and staff for the wonderful service and smiles you provide.

After coming back two years later to replace my retainer, the people here are still extremely rude…read more They made cry after my appointment because of how rude they were. Not only did the front desk lady make a scheduling error and tried to blame it on something else, when I was done with my appointment she was sitting there on her phone, browsing, as if I wasn't there. Then when I was getting my retainer put in, the lady was forcing in my mouth knowing that it wasn't going to fit (I have worn my retainer every night since I got them off. She was explaining that it might have shifted due to the air bubbles and whatnot but how would it have moved that much of it's the same shape as my mold, but anyways...). She could tell how uncomfortable I was but still continued. The other front desk lady was watching and said "oh that sounded like it is going to chip a tooth" like I was thinking it too but who says that to a patient. Yes they did and okay job with my teeth, but I hated going back because of the way I was treated. I would not recommend this place because you have to continuously go back. Like sure if it was a one and done thing I say give it a try but not worth it to be disrespected. My sister and I went here and she didn't like them either. My mom switched to a different orthodontist for my other siblings, if only she switch me too.

Update: the retainer that was hastily installed and not checked when we identified a problem and…read moreasked for help broke free of its mount on one side while we were on vacation, yay. This resulted in a sharp wire free to poke my husband's tongue for a few days. Immediately called Dr. Tripp's office to make an emergency appointment and were told they were booked solid but could squeeze us in at a time that wouldn't work given the drive time home. Ended up calling Dr. Sellers, where all of our kids are now going (and we are very happy), and he was able to see my husband this morning to repair the fixed retainer for a nominal fee. The assistant about fell out of her chair when he told her he'd only had it for 6 weeks. She pointed out how there was a huge "ledge", which they are trained in Ortho Assistant 101 to avoid due to its ability to trap plaque, etc. along with missing bonding material on one side-the exact issue my husband had been trying to convey from the get-go. She rebonded and built up the retainer and explained the best way to keep it clean, while providing some samples of oral hygiene tools, which Dr. Tripp's assistant didn't bother with. There were no hygiene instructions provided whatsoever when the retainer was first placed, and I can say as a dental hygienist that flossing with a threader, using a water jet, and/or proxy-brush is critical with a fixed appliance to avoid gym disease and decay. How an ortho office sees fit to skip OHI is deeply concerning. I've see too many people lose teeth to gum disease due to lack of education. What a missed opportunity. Thankful we already had this knowledge but sad for all the patients being sent through the conveyor belt without any instructions or follow through. On a side note, Dr. Tripp did call me when my review was posted, but I was unavailable and didn't bother calling back as it's too little, too late. Hopefully he's able to get a handle on the operations of his practice. There certainly is no shortage of patients and they are still accepting and seeking new ones as evidenced by the calls I get from the staff asking me to bring my 3 kids back in.
