I specifically met with Lorraine both years and specifically told her I had been turned over to someone in the past who messed up my taxes and I was picking someone "who" I had confidence in. Sure enough, the second year, I was turned over to the intern. Did he do a good job - I don't know! How do I know what he might have missed, but the point is I hired "her" and had specifically expressed my wishes from the very start. Then, I also had a lot of questions. So, apparently, she found me too complicated and told me after the second year, she could not do our taxes. As far as the first year's work, it was more complicated than the second and I think she (I think "she did that one) did a good job. For me, respect and communication are very important. I want who I hire to be transparent and up front with me plus respect my requests. When I did comment regarding finding out what happened, her reaction was kind of "tough, and that she would be "reviewing what he had done". A lot of times, when someone reviews work, they only review the work and don't go back to original documents and see if that is the same way they would have done it, so would they really pick up on missed discounts, information included? To me, the other way around makes more sense - but I guess my case was just not that important to her. So, evaluate your needs and see if this matters to you.
