Dr. Jackson started his vet office in 1977 and my first experiences with him were in the early 80s. I worked on a dairy farm and occasionally we would have to call Dr. Jackson out to help pull a calf when the cow was in trouble, too small or the calf was breached.
Decades have passed and I had to call on him recently during a holiday. All other vets were closed and he was the vet on call. I had an issue with a cat that wouldn't wait until my regular vet reopened.
He came across as a little nonchalant and just going through the motions. I guess he has dealt with so many people and animals over the years that he has earned that right. Dedicated and devoted pet owners are already nervous and emotional during a time of an uncertain and quick onset of symptoms beyond their control, they need to see compassion and concern.
The cat received a shot or two and was sent home with a liquid medicine and instructions to return if that doesn't work. The emergency office visit fee aside, the charges for services rendered were about the same as other vets.
My pets are all established at Vet Med, but if something were to happen with that setup I would get established with Jackson Animal Clinic.
Update: I visited Dr. Locke and that set up blows Vet Med and Dr. Jackson away. There was a long wait once in the exam room, but the level of honest concern and effort to pinpoint the problem was above and beyond what the other two vets offer. I'm a Locke fan. read more
