Let me start by saying I've come in here multiple times. Every Sunday for the last month. I always get 5 star service from Daniel and Lexi. I had come in early on a week day and the older brunette lady was my sever. She never once came back to check on my table after she brought me a beer (and it was NOT busy) in the hour or so I was there she ignored my table the whole time until she brought the check. The fact I had to flag 2 DIFFERENT people down to get any service what so ever is unacceptable. I'm in the service industry myself and chose not to complain to the manager (being some people just have bad days) well I came back in on Friday 10/25/19. I leaned over to my friend to tell him how I didn't want the older brunette lady to serve me because she sucks. I also had mentioned to one of the waitresses how last time I came I had shitty service (because I always talk to her when I come in she's very sweet) I came back to the bar after using the restroom and was approached by the older brunette lady telling me "I herd you're talking shit about me if you have something to say, say it to my face" said it very aggressively at me and I was so appalled I said excuse me? She replied "you herd me" I (calmly in a lady like manor) said "yeah last time I was in here you were rude and your service was terrible." I was then approached by the "owner" and was told to leave if I had anything negative to say about his waitress job skills. This place is TRASH read more

5 stars for the memories. (GO ZAGS!) 3 stars because it's a small, college town, college dive bar. I went after graduating with my masters program classmates to celebrate our empty diploma holders. They have some cheap beers and some microbrews (and when you have a Canadian at the table you know it's decent when they are serving up Kokanee on tap!) It's a horseshoe shaped place with a bar in the middle. Two entrances (one in the rear and one in the front) with a parking lot on the side. It's walking distance to GU and clearly that is the crowd they cater to. The night we were there we got there before the line around the corner showed up. However, as we left at 1:15am, students were still sticking it out for last call outside in line, in the rain. That's some dedication to a clearly A-OK bar! read more

This is the shittiest place I have ever drank at!! 1 in the afternoon 3 servers and I sat for 15 minutes and it took me saying I was dying of thirst to get their attention!!! My husband and 16 year autistic son went to Jack and Dan's for the 1st time and my son was beyond excited to see the old pictures. They were going to the game and thought this would be a great start to the evening. They go there early around 4pm and found out my son couldn't see the pictures because they were in the bar. Disappointed they sat in the dining area in a booth. Well it started to get busy and the waitress started to vibe them to move on. She asked my husband, '"are you guys done yet". My husband paid the bill and was trying to move it along. Then the waitress came up and said if she could seat some other customers in the booth with them. My husband was in shock! He said no and then told our son that they were leaving. He said he had never met a more rude waitress in his 59 years of life. We will never go there again! read more

Since yelp will only allow 5,000 words, here is what you NEED to know about Jack and Dan's, coming in midway through the story, my girlfriend and I sitting at a table watching the Zags game with six nice strangers who invited us to sit down... Our second beer had just arrived, which diverted my attention from the game long enough to notice that we had two more guests at our large table, both of which were glaring holes in the 6 men at the end of our table. After five minutes of awkward presence by these two men, the taller of the two spoke towards the six nice men at our table... "Hey guys, how is the night going? I just wanted to congratulate you for wasting my prime real estate for six hours, way to be, you guys are real champions!" I was slightly confused as at first I thought this guy was joking around, but then when he continued to attack these nice gentlemen I started to get the sense that he was performing one of the more despicable acts I had ever seen from an OWNER to his patrons. That's right we found out this tall guy was the owner of Jack and Dan's... He continued "No, don't worry about a thing, you guys are fine (sarcastic tone), you just cost me $250 thats all, no big deal, you sit here all fucking day if you want!" After the initial confrontation the owner walked away, leaving six confused customers, who by the way, had spent several hundreds of dollars (I saw their tab receipt) from that very table that day. Were they there for a long time, yes! The gentlemen explained to me that they came into the bar at 3pm to get a good spot to watch the game (tip off 6:55). I know this is a long time to sit in a bar and take up a table, but for 1) they spent money the whole time on both food and beer, and 2) They were inviting when we asked to take the remaining chairs so that we could spend money at the establishment. After the owner had departed, he left his thug with tattoo sleeves to spy on these guys; I figured this out due to the awkward nature of his presence, sitting across from my girlfriend but saying nothing, and staring holes into anyone who spoke about the awful show of customer service. So I finally asked him "Was that your friend or something?" In an ever so intelligent response he replied "I am just sitting here listening to you guys babble!". Ten minutes later the owner returned to assess the situation. He asked his thug "So how are we doing here?" at which point one of the nice gentlemen to my left interjected "Is there really a problem here? I paid a lot of money today! We have been coming here for years, I went to high school with John Stockton..." And the owner replied "Oooh, ya here that, he went to school with Stockton so everything is ok (mocking voice)". Immediately the six gentlemen stood up and all agreed it was time to leave, peacefully mind you, with the voiced notion to never return to such a terribly serviced bar. As the men walked out the door, we immediately went to the bar to close our tab and follow suit. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed the owner follow the men out to the street. He got right in the face of one of the customers and started to yell, at which point the thug ran out the door to back his play. As we closed our tab, I confirmed with the bartender that the tall guy was indeed the "new" owner of Jack and Dan's, at which point I voiced my displeasure with the incredibly unprofessional acts my girlfriend and I had witnessed. The bartender apologized sincerely on behalf of the owner, I was impressed by the contrast in demeanor (between the OWNER of a bar, and one of his BARTENDERS...). My girlfriend and I made our way outside with an awful distaste for what we had just witnessed. As we walked through the parking lot I heard yelling; as I turned around I saw one of the men who was sitting at our table, the smallest one mind you (estimated 5'5" 150lbs, 55 year old man), get knocked clear off of his feet only to slam head/back first into a brick wall. Standing above him ready to pumble the poor old man, were the owner of Jack and Dan's and the thug. I quickly sprinted over to stop what I feared would happen next. As I approached I jumped in between the assaulted customer and the angry bar owner "What the hell is your problem?!? Leave this man alone!" I yelled. I kind of expected the two guys might try and attack me next, but instead the owner just started swearing at me, telling me "Off you go asshole!" Perhaps it was my 6'4" 220lb frame that made him think twice about his next move, not meaning to boast about my possible intimidation, but rather point out that they were quick to attack a small guy with two people. We left. This story is 100% true and I have no reason to write this other than to hope that maybe it will land in front of the eyes of potential patrons. Jack and Dan's is not that place unless you fancy getting both verbally and physically assaulted, in which case I advise you to bring a friend as the owner doesn't do his dirt alone. read more

Excellent, just flat excellent. First off ... the bartender knows his stuff. I ordered a Rob Roy and I can't tell you how many times, when I order that, I get a Roy Rogers. Yes it is an old fashioned drink but a really good bartender will know how to (or look up how to) make it and this guy was a really good bartender! I had the chef salad and it was fresh and crisp and the meat was not bland or processed. My husband had the club and says it was one of the better ones he has ever had. I mostly like this place because I'm sentimental about it being the Gonzaga watering hole. It's a laid back environment, which is nice. The drinks are fine, albeit a little overpriced. Late at night it can be rather boisterous, but what else would you expect from a college bar. Also, only try to go after a GU game if you want to wait in a ridiculously long line. read more

A bar I would bet every single underclassman at GU went to at one time...or many times. This bar was the go-to for watching a GU game, grabbing a drink after class or hanging out with your friends on the weekends. There were times of the year where the bar was frequented by students and other times that the crowd was much older. No matter what it will always' be GU's bar and I still find myself coming back here as an alumni on the occasion that I am back in Spokane. Oh and get the Irish Trashcan. read more

Ho-hum borderline dive bar. It's popular because 1) it's close to GU, and sheltered white college kids love to get hammered on loans/dad's money, 2) GU basketball does well in its crappy conference, so it's always packed on game nights, 3) one of the owners is John Stockton's dad, which gets it mentioned in various "best sports bar" rankings. It's a mediocre bar with often surly service in one of the more disgusting areas of Spokane. Parking is awful and, unless you're a GU student living on campus or a homeless person, it's not convenient for walking. The thing I dislike most about this place is their "game night menu." The prices are all the same, they just have fewer items. I couldn't even get a basket of onion rings when I made the mistake of stopping by Jack and Dan's before a GU basketball game. Unless you're a big GU basketball fan and love hanging out with other GU basketball fans, I'd advise that you not bother with Jack and Dan's. Plenty of other decent bars in Spokane with better food, beer, service, location, and prices. read more

An absolute staple for anyone going to Gonzaga. Ever since the Bulldog closed, Jack & Dan's remains the one last bastion for students, and faculty, to unwind near campus. Evenings are something that one must experience in person; no review can do them justice. read more

After so many years, never been here until last night. The bartenders are so obsessive, they dumped our drinks every-time we went outside to smoke. They may have been upset our table never tipped them. We didn't enjoy our table being cleared and hearing, "the glasses were empty." No, our glasses were not empty. The child bartenders think they invented a way to pour more drinks for their customers. Not a great way to build trust. Never coming back here, ever! read more

Great local pub! Always visit when in Spokane. Great beer and liquor selection, solid menu and friendly service. Free parking in the back and easy to find. About five minutes from the downtown business district as well. A great mix of friendly locals, business people and GU students provides a diverse crowd. Stop in for a few cold ones! read more

We've gone to this bar for years and I've always liked it. It seems there's usually all ages there from college age, to middle age, to older which is something I like about it. The service is really good and the food is great at very reasonable prices. They offer excellent specials. It's not just a bar but a restaurant and the kids can be in there as well and our kids have always liked the food too. Definitely would recommend! read more

Huge disappointment from what I remember when this was a great place to eat. This is obviously a drinkers' bar these days and a really divey one at that. We had a burger and the meatloaf sandwich which were both tasteless and haphazardly put together. They were served with frozen fries and greasy onion rings. Service was friendly but inept. Doesn't seem to be an on-site manager and I'll bet it's been years since John Stockton has eaten here. It's heartbreaking to see a favorite of my Gonzaga days fall so far. read more

I had lunch here today (for my first time) with my mother, father, grandmother, grandmother's siblings and some of their spouses. There were 9 of us total. My grandmother loves this place and has been going here for lunch for years. She highly recommends the meatloaf sandwich. I had fish and chips which I have to say were quite good, but it is hard to screw up fish and chips. Everyone had drinks, some alcoholic. It was a typical pub style lunch menu with sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and the like but everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the food and the atmosphere. When it came time to say we were done and ask for our bill my father jokingly says to the waiter/ bartender: "I thought you were buying". A little while later the waiter/ bartender comes back and says: "okay you guys are all settled up, sometimes all you have to do is ask!" What?? Really? How nice! I highly doubt that this is something that they do very often at all, but WOW, what a random act of kindness!! And I have to say probably a smart marketing move as well because as we were all walking to our cars all of us were talking about what a great place this is and how we would definitely be coming back with others. I know I will surely be back. I won't be going back in hopes of another free meal, but instead to support a wonderful local establishment that actually seems to care for it's customers. read more
