Dr. Jack Davidson was recommended to me by my regular dentist, Dr. Vicente, whom I trust completely. Based on that recommendation, I scheduled a consultation and ultimately decided to have my 2 upper wisdom teeth removed at this office.
First, I want to recognize the staff because they were absolutely wonderful. Shannon was incredible ~ kind, welcoming, efficient, and she handled all of the paperwork and insurance details seamlessly. Monica, the surgical assistant, was also fantastic. She was compassionate, reassuring, and even held my hand when she sensed I needed some extra support. The care I received from both of them was truly a 5-star experience.
The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to my experience regarding anesthesia. As several other reviewers have mentioned, I personally do not like being told what I "have to do" by any healthcare provider, whether it's a dentist, physician, or specialist. While I understand that general anesthesia may be the preferred option for many patients, that does not mean it is the right choice for everyone.
I made it clear that I did not want to be put under general anesthesia for the removal of 2 upper wisdom teeth. There were several reasons for my decision, but the main one was simply that I did not want it. During the extraction, part of the bone around my left upper tooth fractured, and Dr. Davidson expressed frustration, reminding me that he had recommended general anesthesia. He also indicated that he did not want to proceed with the second extraction.
At that point, I had to ask him to continue because there was no way I wanted to take another day off work, go through the recovery process again, and take another round of antibiotics just to complete a procedure that could be finished that day. Thankfully, he did proceed with the second extraction.
While the procedure under local anesthesia was not the most pleasant experience, it was manageable and ultimately the right choice for me. My concern is that patients should never feel pressured into a treatment option or made to feel as though they have no choice. Decisions regarding anesthesia should be individualized and based on the patient's preferences, medical history, comfort level, and ability to tolerate treatment ~ not on a one-size-fits-all approach.
All in all, the office is professional, and the procedure was completed successfully. I simply believe that patient autonomy and informed choice should always remain a priority! read more
