Yikes. Just yikes…read more Super unprofessional spot. The artist told me he'd "hook me up". At 200$/hr, I don't think so. I know of SIGNIFICANTLY more seasoned artists that charge that and even less. I might as well have handed him a crayon. He didn't even try. He pretended to be my friend, then gave me a sh*t tattoo on purpose. The tattoo is vomit inducing. I had an appointment with plenty of time for the artist to prep. He told me he was going to work on the stencil a few nights prior. I got there and he didn't even have a start of the stencil ready, so we spent the first 3 hour long "session" in the back of the shop as he drew it while he was getting high. To be fair, I wasn't charged for it. The next "two hour" session came around. All together he spent at least 15-20 minutes dilly dallying in the back with the other artists while he printed out the stencil. Then he took my arm and used it as a doodling pad, tattooing a bunch of goop that looks like a child's drawing. Hindsight says that he may have been drunk because he couldn't tattoo a straight, coherent line. He went over some lines of part of another tattoo adjacent to it and now the area he tattooed is ruined because of the ins and outs of the lines. My niece could have done better when she was 2. That's no exaggeration. Truly, it's my fault because I saw the stencil beforehand and allowed him to tattoo this abomination on my arm. I should have looked at more of his other work before I trusted him because the quality is sort of "how's it going". This isn't an intentional slight towards the shop or him personally, but wow. Horrible. The whole situation had me asking how does this man own a shop and more importantly, why does he hate me?

We're both pretty heavily tatted and generally sit great but both of us were twitching and flinching in obvious pain throughout the entire tattoo. Not sure if the machine speed was off or this was his standard style (he mentioned we sat super well which was funny to us since it was the worst we've ever sat). Besides the tattoo issues, the shop in general was definitely in need of a deep cleaning! There were lots of cobwebs and dust on fixtures and the bathroom was literally a construction site. We love supporting local shops and artists, but definitely won't be back here.

She responded rather quickly (for a busy shop owner) - I sent her reference photos, and we then made an appointment for a consultation. The consultation was about 20 min and she drew on my arm detailing exactly what she would be doing and then traced that. No question was left unanswered. I then had multiple two hour sessions which I wasn't used to in my previous longer tattoo sessions, which was great. Elize always made sure I was comfortable, played awesome music, and always checked in on me to see if I was hanging in. Best tattoo experiences I've ever had, hands down. I refer this shop to literally everyone. Her books are closed right now, but I cannot wait to come to the new shop for another piece!

Through a little bit of research, we found Hourglass Tattoo Studio and specifically Sanjay. We really liked his portfolio and emailed him the same day to see if he had availability. He responded pretty quickly and we scheduled an appointment with him for the next day. He drew up the design and with his edits it looked amazing, but explained that he didn't think the piece would work because of the curvature of our arms. This came as a bit of a surprise, but we trusted him since he is the expert so we decided to go with something else. We countered on the spot, with a new design, and thankfully (and surprisingly), he took it all in stride and drew up the design with no complaints. I think it helped that the new design was a bit smaller and simpler. Even though the new tattoo design was very impromptu for him, he was very fair and patient the whole time explaining what he thought would work and what would not. He is a very easy going and chill guy, with great taste in music, and you feel like you are in great hands. Not to mention the needle he uses (some kind of high speed, quiet needle) is much more painless than other needles I have felt before. I appreciate Sanjay for drawing up a great design and not being frustrated with us when we decided to change tattoo ideas. Thanks so much! The healing process was also nice and easy! Highly recommend Sanjay for any tattoos (small or large) that you are interested in getting. Also he has very fair prices.

The guy tattooing was very rude during the tattoo and was aggravated because he was tattooing so many people but it's his shop? If you don't want to do the special you don't have to... He was also very rude to my friend who got her tattoo at the same time. He made a comment about other tattoos she has, one of which is a quote, and said that "tattoos should be looked at, not read" which is uncalled for especially coming from a "tattoo artist" The final nail in the coffin is how busted my tattoo ended up being. What I thought would be a simple tattoo ended up being the worst decision I have ever made. I have other tattoos and have never bruised from them, but this one was bruised for weeks and concerned myself and my friends to the point where I considered going to the hospital to get it looked at because it was just not healing. He was very heavy handed with the needle as well. I know tattoos hurt but it felt as if this man was trying to tattoo my bone. After the tattoo finally healed the lines ended up being super blown out and uneven, and I am embarrassed that I have this thing on me for the rest of my life. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at ALL costs.
