Under absolutely no circumstances should you EVER go here. Especially if you have a service dog, but something makes me feel like these people are so absolutely miserable they would be rude to you even if you did not have one. We do not live in the area, and, J.R'S Discount store was one of the first shops that came up on Google. Sweet! We will have to stop there. Nope. Do not ever give this place a chance. After getting a feel for the store, it's mostly tools and miscellaneous items. We were not greeted with a hello as the woman at the counter, who has a dog behind the counter, mind you, did not give us a second glance as she was bewailing about ACTUALLY having to do her job. Complaining that they were busy. My dad followed closely behind after finding his face mask, with our certified service dog, Wikkett, on a leash. The male owner who was working there came out of nowhere, and got up in my dad's face. "Is that a service dog?" He asks. "Yes," my dad says. "YEAH RIGHT. I DON'T BELIEVE YOU. SERVICE DOG FOR WHAT?" Is his reply, and this is when I realized this conversation was happening. We showed him the tags on Wikkett's collar, as my dad explained he didn't have to tell him, by law, what he is for. "I'm the owner, I can ask anything I FUCKING want." which again, by law, no you cannot. Being mocked for a condition if you decide to say what your condition is is a very real issue, and it is not required by law that you have to say what they are for. Wikkett is extremely small and well trained. My dad tried to explain this but then walked out when the man became increasingly aggressive, and we put the few items we were going to buy(just some small tennis balls and an oven mitt for cooking while camping/a mug my best friend was going to buy for his mom.) on the counter as we too started to walk out. We were mocked and screamed at on the way out the door, and don't think we were the only ones in the store. Others saw him and his... wife? Sister? Cousin? Ex-wife coworker? I don't know. Berate us and scream at us as we walked out the door. Saying things like "SERVICE DOG MY ASS" and the like. As we walked out they carried on, and I started that, by the way, the tennis balls we were going to buy were intended for Wikkett and that we wouldn't be back for them. Both of them, the man and the woman. Began to scream at me as I was walking out. The last thing I heard as I left was a sarcastic "I'M SURE I'LL GO BROKE." from the male owner.
These two are absolutely infuriating, ignorant, disrespectful, and insulting to both others and themselves by their own actions. Do not go here unless you want to be insulted and mocked. read more
