Once upon a time, say 15 years ago, Patrick's deserved 6 or more out of 5. Unfortunately they're not as good as they used to be. Or is this just my failing memory?
Sausage, bacon and burgers are good to excellent, the lorne sausage being the best I've found. Steaks are excellent and steak pies are good, but the giant bridies of yesteryear are no more. Lamb tends to be pricey but again good quality. The prepared dishes are a bit more variable, not always hitting the mark. The schnitzel, which used to be great, is now to be avoided. The specials at Xmas and New Year are usually top notch, with the ham and bacon joints being my favourites.
Can be very busy, especially at the festive season and on Saturdays. Not the biggest of shops, so it is sometimes hard to get a look at the stuff on display. Being a proper butcher, you can have all sorts of things that aren't on display if you ask and are willing to wait. Service is good.
Parking isn't difficult, although it may be a problem if you have mobility problems or are just too lazy to cross the street. read more
