Geraldine McGuirk is the proprietor of this long standing family business. She stocks a range of bio-fuel options in terms of heat logs and lignite briquettes as well as selling water harvesting barrels and fuel storage bunkers. The standard range of solid fuels are also available.
This Winter I'm using the Hayes Lignite Briquettes which she sells at €12 for three bails - delivered in quantity. The main thing to say about lignite briquettes is that they're not turf taken from a living eco-system which is also acting as a living carbon sink. If commercial turf cutting were banned in the morning people could easily switch to these longer burning briquettes which reduce fire maintenance to a minimum because you can simply light the fire from the embers of the day before Winter long, leaving a slow burning fire on all day - assuming you have a stove. So Ming Flanagan TD 'Bogmen & Co.", eat your freaking heart out.
Thanks to the proprietor for her pro-active stance is stocking a range of bio-fuel options and to her brother Michael for delivering the fuel and storage bunker the ten miles to my home. Water harvesting is definitely next thing to do on my 'Things to do', list. read more
