Like the other yelpers have stated, this is just a fenced in area, but that's really how all dog…read moreparks in Tallahassee are. I prefer coming to the San Luis Dog Park because they have smaller dogs here (compared to Tom Brown). I have a 55 lb Aussie/Lab and a 30 lb American Bulldog, and I'm a very over protective fur mommy, so it's very important for me to feel like my dogs will be safe and not bullied. Overall, my dogs always have fun here and can play for hours with other dogs. Just as a tip, do NOT go to the park once it has rained. I would say give it a day or even two days. I went one time, when it had rained a few days before, and there was mud everywhere. A lot of the dogs that go are puppies and will dig, so prepare for mud to get all over your dog. Always make sure you bring a towel as well (has come in handy a few times with cleaning off my pups)

Blue-green algae means it likely is TOXIC algae that sicken your dog within minutes and kill within hours. If the fountain is running, then the toxins are being disbursed into the air and you breathe it in and it can make you very sick - seberity of signs and symptoms depend on the type and amount of cyanobacteria present. You cannot tell 100% if it's toxic by look or smell, only by water testing. Keep pets and children away until you know if it's toxic. Ask the City of Tallahassee to perform cyanobacteria testing and be honest with you about the toxins. See: https://www.epa.gov/nutrientpollution/protect-your-pooch
