Reliance Works

Reliance Works

(1 review)

Horrible work and liars. Do'nt trust them. Don't contract with them…read more Ryan Bortz (I call him lyin Ryan) sold the job. Made promises of what would be done and good work. Asked for a detailed contract and was presented a very simple contract that did not say all of what was promised. Was desperate to get the work done. Was pushed to sign so they could start. First thing I noticed was very poor framing. Work was done by a couple of young guys. Bortz not around. Reliance Works is part of Isaiah House, a drug rehab company. They hire people who have gone through their program and advertise for wanting to hire felons. Been told that they do not have vocational training. They made changes to the framing which were absolutely horrible reusing lumber with split up the ends and left nails in, etc. Very weak. Complained again and they made improvements but refused to do what should have been done. In days the work was supposedly done. Bortz wanted to meet to get a check for the work. Did not meet with him. Looked at the work and saw how bad it was and they did not do all was promised as putting bottom trim on (trim was on the contract). Bortz lied and said that they could not put the bottom trim on as it would require cutting the panels (they apparently did not cut the panels to length as the bottoms were sticking down at different depths and too close to the soil) as that would void the warranty. Was a total lie as it is acceptable to cut the panels not using abrasive cutting and they cut the gable end panels on both ends of the barn. Was just an excuse and a lie. The doors they did were horrible. They slide open if not latched as they did not install the rails level. Latches essentially non functional, cheap and improperly installed. Doors too short and narrow, Did not install the rollers (should have used more or used rails) correctly and the doors bang on the siding when opened. Did not install the end stop on one properly so it comes off of the rail. Are very difficult to open and try to use the latches. Some poor framing they did on one end of the barn was nailed onto the outside of the existing framing making a gap between the wall and the roof. And it is weak framing. The man door was installed with the hinges on the outside. It bangs into the wall when opened. pieced the trim together on one side. Did not put the wood on the bottom inside all the way around. Found screws not tightened. Left trash laying around. Damaged my gate locks and broke a gate hinge and never tried to lock the gates securely. I mentioned all the problems, Bortz did not offer any solutions to the problems. Threatened to turn me over to their "legal team". Turned me over to his superior, Jack Coleman. Coleman came up with a list of poor solutions, one of which even included using a pile of rock I had delivered for my driveway. I refused those. Then he turned me over to Mike Thompson, a vice president for Isaiah House, supposedly a minister. Thompson came and looked at the poor work and agreed several things needed to be repaired. Thompson came up with a list of his own solutions, still more of a scam than an honest effort to resolve the problems. I read the contract and saw that it said that i could terminate the contract if the work was not done within 30 days from the beginning of the contract and it had been way longer than that. I mentioned this to Thompson and he immediately said he was turning me over to their "legal team". They had just hired on a new attorney, Dana Simmons. She contacted me and threatened to put a lien on my property. She offered a 20 per cent reduction in the cost to get me to send money so they did not need to do the lien. I agreed but am still working on a law suit against them.. Bortz had given me estimates for other work and when I wanted good work instead of the clown job, he said the estimates were void and the cost would go way up. Thompson told me they would not come back and work, including to fix the terrible work they did and finish what they promised and contracted for, They know they have a great legal advantage over customers with having on staff lawyers. It costs them noting more to fight in court or any other way so they bullied me and sure they bully others. Beware and run from them. Do not have anything to do with them. Bad people. Experienced criminals. Like Bortz told me that for some years he dug ginseng roots from parks for a living and also was an opioid dealer and a judge gave him the option of going to rehab or prison and that is how he got involved with Isaiah House and Reliance. Another point, the man that suggested I use this company and gave me their contact info used them for work on a house his daughter owns. he told me the work they did was poor and he ended up paying another contractor to come and take out what these guys did and put new in. But he would not complain as his daughter works for Isaiah House.
