The expired beer he used for our drinks, now I know why they tasted so bad.

Please go elsewhere! And please read this review in its entirety!! Our wedding was on June 14, 2024. Our bar service was a DISASTER and the owner, Josh, has been even worse to us afterwards. Every vendor we used had pricing information readily available WITHOUT us even asking, except J.Jackson. No one is hiding the cost breakout with us, except J.Jackson. This is a list of some (but NOT all) issues we encountered with J.Jackson: *Ran out of beer an HOUR before bar close *Josh claims the bartender left during the wedding to go get more beer and yet we STILL ran out *We paid to have TWO bartenders serve all night, but we only had one for a part of the time, therefore guests waited in long lines. *Of our two beer options, one of them should have been Yazoo Gerst (a light amber ale), but instead they brought the completely wrong beer.. they brought Jackelope Bearwalker (a dark brown ale) instead. So we ran completely out of one beer option and the other beer option was just WRONG. *We paid for a coffee bar and that was missing *We paid for a non-alcoholic drink station which was only available to our guests for about 2 of the 6 hours. Josh BLAMES ME for not having a spot for it. He works at this venue 70 times a year and can't find a single spot for the water on a hot day??? *Our specialty cocktails didn't taste the same as we tasted before. Maybe this was because he was using EXPIRED BEER to make one of them (see picture-the expired Voodoo Ranger was used for a cocktail). We received NO refund for this. Out of all our issues, Josh only took accountability for providing the wrong beer. He refunded us $43.96 for the Bearwalker. When we asked how this could be so low, Josh claims he didn't stock very much of the Bearwalker so the refund was small.. how convenient. Not to mention, he didn't even compensate us for it being the complete WRONG BEER to begin with. I asked Josh FOUR times for an itemized breakout so I could reconcile the refund to what we actually paid. We just want to see what we really paid for, a very simple and reasonable request, and he REFUSES to show us the pricing. IT GETS WORSE!! I tried to handle this between him and I for over a month, he then proceeds to send me the most unprofessional 12 minute video I have ever seen where he BLAMED EVERYTHING ON ME. These are some of the things he states to me in this video: *Told me I owe him an apology *He says we ran out of beer because I CHOSE to have my wedding in June on a hot day so it was MY fault that he was not prepared for it to be so hot. (We have lived here for 7 years and I don't remember a "cool" June in TN). Plus, believe it or not, there is a weather forecast publicly available that was predicting 90-degree weather for TWO weeks before the wedding. But yet, it was still MY fault, not his. *Tried insulting me by questioning if I know how math works..he says "things cost things"... so I should just believe the Bearwalker ONLY cost $43 and not worry about the remaining thousands that we paid you?? *Literally says I'm the one who's not acting in good faith because I simply asked him for an itemized breakout of costs.. Every other vendor can explain their costs, but NOT J.Jackson. *Claims I am BULLYING him because after the fourth time asking for an itemized breakout of costs, I said verbatim in my email "We really, really want to work this out with you personally and not have to take our concerns elsewhere."... I guess that is bullying but I just was trying to avoid taking my concerns to a formal review. Also, the video is 12 minutes long... 12 minutes of him completely blaming me for EVERYTHING. I'm happy to share the video of his unprofessionalism in its entirety if needed, just reach out: shelbey.spurgeon@gmail.com Our Venue saw our entire email chain and watched his video and they said (in their exact words) that they were absolutely shaken by his behavior, truly distraught, and this is unacceptable. I have never had a more terrible experience with anyone and I am begging you to go with ANY other bar services!!

Went to a wedding with this company running the bar and they killed it! Planning on using them for my upcoming engagement party!

The employees (not all, but certainly most) have a pretentious, arrogant attitude when serving the customers. It feels like you are walking up to a sorority table to ask for a drink. Example-- At Taste of Nashville, the VIP staff would literally ignore people that were waiting for drinks. They make you feel like you are doing something wrong by asking for a drink (their job...) to be made. On their phones when people were waiting to be served. They lacked the hospitality that you would expect from a bar. Some employees that were hired for this event were even drinking during the event. Events hire this company to bartend and would certainly not want them drinking while there. After multiple events with the same, cold attitude from VIP, I would certainly recommend looking into one of the other providers in town if hiring for an event. Do it for your guest's sake. UPDATE: In response to the business reply below-- This person SERVED me a drink AT this exact event. The statement that she was there not working is simply false. The defensive reply does nothing but prove my point to the disrespect and unprofessional behavior of this business.

She was extremely rude and unprofessional. She is refusing to issue a refund even though they messed up and did not bring the drinks/mixers that were in our contract. Even though she said she would issue a partial refund for their mistakes that night. Please don't stress yourself out with using this company. Pay a little extra for another company- a stress free environment on your wedding day is well worth the money! I see Laceey has replied with a response. Note there is no mention of wanting to rectify the situation. Laceey was VERY rude when I spoke to her, hung up on me TWICE when she could not answer my questions. This is very disheartening and sad that there is a business that can treat people as such. I will update my review soon.

After setup, we did a few test last to make sure ok before serving to the masses and thank goodness we did! My poor coworker though, had an allergic reaction and immediately broke out, her throat swelled and she almost had to be rushed to the ER. Owner tried to tell us it was bad tequila we bought and that was the issue. Turns out.... There were chemicals and soap IN THE MACHINE! We were floored. Absolutely awful, and her response was to immediately blame us. After realizing she was wrong she did bring us a fresh bottle of tequila to replace the one lost when she finally cleaned it correctly, but that is not the point here. The point is she almost sent someone to the hospital due to negligence. Third issue was pickup. Was supposed to be at 5pm on Thursday. Then she pushed it to noon on Friday. Then pushed it to 1:15pm Friday. Then 2-ish Friday. That is not ok, and we had to provide the muscle to get it in her vehicle. While the event ultimately went smoothly after the soap/chemicals issue, not sure I'd use them again. If you do.... Take very small first sips until you know it's safe.

The prices were super reasonable and the professionalism of the person I spoke with, Sarah, really made feel like what she had to offer was quality for the cost. I didn't want to hire some irresponsible and sloppy bar for our opening night. There were literally news media there that made this event especially important. She went on to discuss the specialty cocktails they would procure custom to our event. Dude, I was so pumped! She even gave me tips on how I could save more money with different drink options and even the legalities of have a mobile bar and what permits I would have to acquire. I literally couldn't have begun to think of this stuff myself. I thought I had my work cut out for me. I don't even think she knew how much relief I got just from our initial conversation. We hired them immediately and within a day she sent us the names and qualifications of the the two bartenders who would be working that night. I have never heard of anyone do that before, granted I bad never hired a bar before. I really loved how they were also willing to wear costumes we selected to match the theme of our event and they even allowed us to decorate their stand/bar to also match. How cool is that?! I felt like we were so lucky to come across this business. Unfortunately, my business partners decided to forego a bar at this event. They wanted to emphasize a family-friendly atmosphere and felt that an open bar would draw a younger and more rambunctious crowd. I understand where they were coming from, but if it was my choice Smedevents would have been our go-to mobile bar service for every special event we curated. I feel like their professionalism would have kept our vibe intact, but alas I am only a 4th of the deciding party. I recommend them to anyone I know looking for alcohol at their events. I know I am responsible for a couple of their bookings and my friends have told me that their service is exceptional. I had no doubt. I am having a wedding next year and will make a mad dash to hire them. I have attached snippets of my conversation with Sarah.

I'm not surprised she denies the $100 thing but I confirmed it with my uncle. My uncle who paid her would have no reason to lie. I understand that her actions don't necessarily reflect the company but you can under my level of being upset. The security guard who's also the coordinators husband as well as your company are recommended by the venue owner so I'm sure that everyone has stake in the game here. I just agree with my claims being dismissed as lies when I was sober and was there the whole night. My one friend was cut off after 45 min and he weighs well over 250lbs. I think he had maybe 2 or 3 beers in an hour. The security guard from what I understand is coordinator"s husband. He wasn't monitoring the bar that closely. I was a cop for 11 years and I was paying attention to what was going on. Either way I think the girl sucked and she doesn't reflect ur company and the normal great reviews y'all have. She's denying accepting tips as bribes which is fine but these are family members telling us these things. These people have no reason to lie. I didn't address it with anyone because so much else went wrong I just wanted to try and enjoy my wedding. As far as ANYONE including the venue owner accusing people of drinking heavily during the day that is nonsense. Many of my guests didn't arrive til 3:30-4pm My groomsman were helping set up all day NOT drinking. I wasn't in thr bridal suite but I know the girls were getting ready and not getting hammered. Some of our bridal party are sober AA members. The venue owner has some nerve saying anything about anyone drinking it's not their job it's the bartender's. The only people who could've been observed "drinking heavily" were our bridal party who were maybe sippin on a beer or two as we waited to walk out. These accusations have no basis coming from them. And idk what type of training this person had but anyone I spoke to that was cut off was not drunk. The security was useless and between the venue owners and him all they did was gawk and watch my guests like CIA operatives. The whole expert are my guests feel uneasy and unwelcomed. I'm sure you have a stellar business but this girl didn't perform well. As far as her denying her bribes she can deny all she wants. I know these people they are family and they told me what they paid her to be served. That's on her for making bad choices. If she was worried about intoxication she should've just cut em off and left it at that. But why take tips then serve them still? The venue owner was on the porch across the was a fair amount of the night. She was not monitoring my guests BAC. Her opinion holds no water. If she had an opinion idk why she talked to my bartender and possibly persuaded her to cut off my guests so soon. At the end of the day the bartender was not personable. She came off like she didn't wanna be there. Ur company should hire people that are friendly and welcoming. She was not. I withdraw the fact that she was late then I thought she was supposed to be their earlier. She served me and my wife and didn't even say congrats . It was a "hear ya go" lol I was shocked. She was just not friendly. I've had better bar service At Applebee's I feel were not getting anywhere. It seems that my option and perception as a paying customer doesn't matter here. I'm not lying about what I observed and what was told to me. My own fam members paid her to serve them when she cut them off soo that's on her. We set up the bar to be nice No thank you or anything We shouldn't have done anything I'm just over it To avoid this just don't use her i guess lol She needs training or a new field And the venue having any say in this i fee is nonsense. If they had an issue with anyone or anything they should've said something to me or my wife or any of my people. I've never been to a more sober wedding to be honest. I feel like the people involved were on differ wave lengths. I just don't appreciate my claims being dismissed I'm the paying customer. The Bartender is straight up lying and the venue owner has zero idea what she's talking about. She didn't integrator perform field sobriety tests on my guests. The drinking all day claim is ludacris. We were there setting up all day and not drinking The guests that weren't there were at the hotel. How can she say she knew what my guests were doing 30 min away at a hotel ?!
