The gas station recently changed hands and is no longer an uppys, but a circle k. It has a wide selection of alcohol and other beverage cases and the lighting is good. It's also one of the only places you can pull your boat in and not block others. Just remember to pull in where your car or truck is facing 15 and not facing the building. And if you need a fishing license or minnows.... They have those too. I can't think of anything this place doesn't have and it's located close to the state park where and convenient for campers.

I was traveling and caught a flat tire. pulled over at the sheetz ( which is suppose to be a safe place) only to end up dealing with the local police. the store closed at 11:30 on a Monday even thru it's a 24hr store. the manager said I had to leave I adv I'm NOT from out here only passing thru and caught a flat on the highway, I was waiting on a tow truck. a few moments went by and she came to me again saying she was going to call the police or the companys truck service if I didnt leave. I asked her do I put the car on my back like let's be serious. 5 mins later 2 henderson police officers pull up as if I was ready to rob the place. staying the manager wanted me off the property. I adv unless someone is going to change my tire we ALL will wait on the tow truck and then I will gladly leave. we did just that. I called the store the next day to see what the protocol was and they hung up in my face and did not answer. I reach out to corporate and havent heard anything back. The manager lied to the police stating I WOULD NOT leave instead of telling them WHY I couldn't leave. On 12/17/24 at 6:30 am, on my way to the hospital, I stopped for cigs. Simmons has cool gadgets that I usually purchase for my sons. I was looking at each flashlight to make sure they worked. An employee approached from behind and accused me of shoplifting! She was rude and loud. I opened my purse for her to see that I took nothing, yet she insisted that I did b/c I had dropped 2 flashlights on the floor! The lady behind the counter, "verified" her account; but the cashier didn't say a word, just told me if I bought the flashlights and cigs, I could go. I asked for a website, phone #, address, or social media page, and the 2 ladies said they didn't have one!! I told them to check their camera footage, and they will see that they were wrong! I'm a 61 year-old retired Teacher and Library Media Specialist. I've never stolen even a library book! The loud and rude employees embarrassed and humiliated me to anger and tears! I will not go back. Losing one customer won't make a difference, but maybe others should be aware.

Oh yes, beer drinkers this stop is a must on your stops, there is a beer cave with a large variety of beers and they are ice cold! As we were about to pull off we noticed a lady from Quiznos come outside in her apron which is supposed to be sanitary and smoke a cigarette as she leaned against the dirty building; not cool!

Just over border and a short distance from the highway, this Shell station (which was not a member…read moreof the Fuel Rewards program when I visited it) is cheaper by at least 0 cents a gallon compared to stations not far away in North Carolina. If you can afford to wait just a little bit longer to exit 12 (where Route 58 will take you to Norfolk and Virginia Beach), you might save another few cents as there are more stations there. But if you do need gas now, then this station gets the job done with reasonably spaced pumps and receipt printers that work. A-OK.
