I've been with these guys since 2018 or so when my grandfather passed and I took over ownership of the '67 Impala. He was with them for at least 30 years prior. They were fine to work with but definitely showing that they were stuck in the 80s and 90s doing everything by mail. Well, enter today post private equity and they have done what all private equity does and ruins things for money. Neither my grandfather nor myself have ever made a claim in any way yet the policy went up 25% 2 years in a row. Funny that it happens right after PE ownership... Having to do things through mail still was fine for me until this year when they (electronically) told the state DMV my insurance was expired day of but I got the renewal letter 2 days before expiration on a Saturday so no way that was getting paid in time. I went ahead and mailed the check not knowing my reg was going to get nuked in 2 days hoping I would catch it. Several nasty-grams from JCT telling me insurance had lapsed then finally an email and call from someone saying they got my payment. Having already had a minor issue with this and them in the past from my moving to a different state, I figured I better check and that's when I learned DMV had put a hold on my reg. Clearly PE is Money in, fast. Money out, slow. At this point, angry and done with JCT, I signed up with another provider. I called them to cancel and just like someone else reviewed here, they require a written letter for cancellation. I'm sorry, but the cost of the policy is low and the headaches of dealing with them now has exceeded that cost. I'm just going to let it expire and be double insured rather than deal with their BS. Honestly, I can't even imagine what it would have been like dealing with them now if I had a claim. I can easily see them dragging their feet for months if not years on sorting it out. read more

I received a cancellation notice, but never had any advance notice that my premium payment was in arrears. When I tried to call them, I could not reach anyone. Was put on hold for over a half hour. I tried to email them and no response. JC Taylor used to be a good company with great customer service. I see from other negative comments that they were bought out by a private equity company, which makes sense because this is not the same company I did business with for years. They have forced me to do business elsewhere. read more

I'll tell you exactly why there are so many complaints. I have insured my collector/antiques through JCT for over 40 years, and they used to be great to deal with. Family owned. Original owner Taylor sold to Wallace et. al. in the late 60's. Still locally operated until 2021, when Mr. Wallace's son sold to NSM Insurance Group. Beginning of the end. NSM is in turn owned by Novacore, part of White Mountain Group, a private equity firm based offshore. NSM also bought up several of the other specialty auto insurance companies, and all operations moved to NSM offices in Cherry Hill NJ. In 2022, White Mountain sold off NSM to the Carlyle Group, and now, in 2025, NSM has been split into two entities, with the specialty/collector car portion now renamed Ignyte. The JC Taylor building in Upper Darby, proudly built in 1962, sits empty with a "for lease" sign. Service is abysmal, contracted "agents" work remotely and have little knowledge. After 40 years as a customer with zero accidents or tickets, I get put through the wringer to add another car (I have 8, plus 3 modern vehicles on their own policy), and it has taken months to accomplish. read more

Too much patina and not enough shiney restoration. They had no problem taking my $ for 40 years and never had a claim. Everyone in the clubs will hear about this. I encourage you to read the fine print on any policy you buy from this agent. My policy showed a $73.60 charge for "Loss or damage to your auto total." I thought that was the collision coverage I had discussed with the agent on the phone. Not until I had my first accident in 35 years of owning this antique car did I find out that the coverage my car had was comp, not collision. I was astonished and took the policy to my State Farm office in town to have my agent there read it. After MUCH SEARCHING the agent was able to find the clause about no collision coverage. It was buried deep in the lengthy document, on page 29. I cancelled my policy because I felt the language on the invoice was deceptive. read more

I had a policy for over 20 years with JC Taylor with 1 claim in 2006. I never had a problem, never missed a payment. I recently called to ADD 2 collector vehicles to my policy. You would think they would welcome the business. On the other hand they denied to insure my two additions to my other 4 vehicles but REQUIRED me to upgrade my insurance on my daily driver insurance through another company because they were worried that my daily drivers were over 10 years old! WHAT???? Needless to say I didn't upgrade my other insurance plan and cancelled my policy. I went with Hagerty and it was an easy transition with no questions asked about my 7 collector vehicles AND IT WAS CHEAPER! Don't waste your time with JC Taylor...they suck! read more

I've had this company for about 35 year without an accident, and only one windshield claim in all those years. This past year, I again had a windshield break and was rear ended. The reimbursement for the windshield took a month because the adjuster handling it was on vacation. The claim was given to his "Supervisor" while the original adjuster was on vacation and I never heard from him. I have been sent FIVE different bills for my current policy and none of them were correct. I purchased another car and they asked to see pictures of it, and gave me an email address to send them to. The email address doesn't exist. In this past year the wheels have fell off this place, and I'm looking for a new company to insure my vehicles. Don't know why they are screwing up, but I'm not sticking around any longer. read more

Than my antique car was going threw restoration so I didn't renew the policy it took phone calls and phone calls and waiting On the line and waiting waiting... phone calls Weren't returned messages was left for Brendan Than was transferred to another lady to handle The policy.. than again they were missing information sent them info again... than they wanted my wife's information when she event doesn't drive the vehicle.. what a waste of time. Than they said because your wife had a ticket We can't insure your vehicle... don't waste your time Like I did. Maybe management changed or who knows what's going on there. Don't pay too much to insure your antique vehicle. I insured a 1974 Beetle with JC Taylor for many years. Cost less than $100 per year, with towing added $10. You only need to prove you have another vehicle as your daily driver. Only heard from them once a year by postal mail when insurance was up for renewal. The only thing JC Taylor needs to work on is getting with the times and phone staff attitude. When I called to cancel my policy, the grumpy elderly woman answering informed me I needed to hand write them a signed request to cancel my policy. Wow. A letter confirming my wish to terminate arrived weeks ahead of my refund check, which took over a month from the day I called. So, inexpensive insurance, check. Customer service, meh. read more

I've been with this company for years, had a claim with them once, was a good experience, now just recently was in an accident that was not my fault, went with other insurance, had a bad Repair on my classic, was told I should have put the claim in with jcTaylor in the first place, was also told at anytime to call them if I had any problems which for 2 months fought with the other insurance company, so I put a claim in with them and they told me I wasn't covered, question why would I continue to have insurance with J.c. I've insured several classics over the years. Always reasonable premium. Last was a '91 Jaguar XJS convertible, $139 a year. Obviously they want pics of the vehicle and garage. I'll do business again. The only reason I did not 5 star the company is that I had no claim, so I cannot speak to that. read more

Been with JC Taylor for over 20 years with one car, added a second antique vehicle 6 years ago, and have always been very pleased with their service. Rates have gone up very little over that time. This past year I had a little mishap which was my fault, and I could not ask for a better response, and no increase in my rate. I just wanted to reiterate what I have said in my last review 11 months ago on Google. I have just purchased another antique auto and called JC Taylor to add the car to my policy. I was on the phone for less than 5 minutes and I did receive courteous and professional hassle free service again. I am puzzled at why some potential customers who do not qualify or meet criteria of the Insurance Company`s policies and regulations has a damaging affect on a legitimate company who is not the insurance company itself but only the Underwriter working in conjunction for the Insurance Company. So in retrospect they are a Insurance Agency otherwise known as an Insurance Broker. There is a difference!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a realist who lives in the real world and understands that difference. Remember people don't shoot the messenger just because you did not like the message! JC Taylor Insurance Agency along with Dave their underwriter is excellent all the way from start to finish. I have had the opportunity to have Dave handle the underwriting for my 2 automobiles and he is absolutely excellent. We needed classic car ins for our 1965 Chevy truck. We found the best rate with JC Taylor. We sent in the application, a money order and a picture. When we hadn't heard anything we called the customer service lady said the underwriter said they were too many dings and dents and they were sending back our money and application. The letter we received the next day stated our truck had to be in restored or good original condition to be eligible for their program. That was never mentioned on the website or in the application. They did ask if it was being restored on the app. We are in the process of restoring and all is done except for the exterior. They need to be more specific and we wasted our time and effort in trying to get ins. We are going to go with Hagerty at least we can pay online and get our Ins taken care of in a professional manner. JC Taylor is still in the stone age and needs to update their system to handle their business. Don't waste your time unless you have a PERFECT CLASSIC CAR they will accept the stuck up northern bastards. read more
