** BUYER BEWARE **I've hired J&J 3 times now. This final time I had a building removed from my property. They started the job quickly, but have been dragging their feet with finishing. They refused to finish picking up the debris BEFORE the recent blizzard despite my desperate attempts to get them to come back out. Now they have dragged this out for more than a month stating it isn't their fault that the ground is frozen. Mind you they took this job with snow on the ground in the first place. He then told me they planned on burying the debris in my new foundation I'm having poured and when I refused he said they would just "blow it into the woods". There are chunks of of siding, broken glass everywhere, and so much mess I can't even use my driveway. BUYER BEWARE. Everything they touched went from bad to worse. Was informed I didn't negotiate for my floors to be flat or level. Was told my pine wood floors were too old to stain after the project, they completely ruined my hardwood floors. Pine requires conditioner and you need to mix the stain otherwise it will be stripped like how mine came out. Also had a French drain installed that was insulated to keep the water out of the drain?! several contractors are confused how they are still in business. if anyone can help recover from these grifters I appreciate all help. Jimmy's typed contract stated that he would provide "French drains". He provided incorrect "gutter drains" with 4" perforated pipes and no fabric mesh. His concrete footing for the "den" was not level and was not poured to the frost line. He did not check to see if a permit was required. Jimmy doesn't know anything about drainage or construction. J&J Construction are NOT professionals and CANNOT provide reliable results. The worst job I have ever seen. They hire day workers who know nothing. When the truck came to pour cement they were running around with buckets to catch cement. Cement went into the pool and on my lawn. They can deny, deny, deny, but I watched them on my camera running around like a comedy act. I would laugh but they ruined my 85K pool. I have been in tears since. Also, if you live in NY, they are not licensed to work in PUTNAM or WESTCHESTER. I reported this company to Consumer Affairs and had to obtain a lawyer. They also failed to install expansion joints between my pool Coping and the poured cement. I had cement poured on my pool coping. They scraped my coping with a wire brush and ruined the coping brick. DO NOT HIRE THEM. I also found out that they overcharged me and used the cheapest materials...They also left their dumpster on my property that I had to pay to remove. I paid 24.5K for this horrible project. He was looking for another 8.5K. I had to put my foot down because I had to hire another contractor to repair some of the major repairs. We contracted with J&J Construction for a garage foundation in FEB 2023 and 3 wks before pouring, he pulled out. Wasn't happy about the last minute pull out but I'd rather have someone confident about the job than not. Jimmy stated he would retun my deposit after the 4th of July holiday and I agreed and trusted that would happen. I've been chasing him ever since (3 weeks and counting; I'm posting this on July 21) to get reimbursed. Interestingly, he was super responsive while our contract was in place and now he's so busy he can't call me back or respond. huh.. He has so many excuses! His admin had a baby, the check is in the mail, he doesn't have Paypal or Venmo.. please... Do yourself a favor and avoid this business - seems shady. I'm going to have to take him to court to get reimbursed for a contract he backed out of. So glad I didn't give him the full amount he requested for the deposit and he's not the upstanding business man he portrays.. He'll steal from you.
