He's a must to avoid. When I approached him for a personal injury case we learned of a friend we…read morehad in common. Because of our mutual friend he cut the fee from 40% to 33%. Although, a mistake was made and the paperwork didn't reflect the lower fee, he assured me that the fee would be 33%. Five years later (yes, count 'em 5) he called with a settlement. It wasn't much, but after five years I had no expectations. I didn't know if he was aware that our mutual friends moved to Vegas. When I brought up the subject he gave me the bum's rush and quickly ended our call. After I realized that he took his full 40% I understood the sudden need to end the phone call. I never said anything because, frankly, I took pity on him. You see, he had just bought a residence in Midtown Manhattan and a secluded home on a secluded island in the Caribbean. He needed the money more than me.
