They're permanently CLOSED !! Sadly missed, was the best self service, eat as much as you like place to eat in Maldon !!

I've been back to Izumi again today, and again I was not let down, the food was great as usual, the staff can not be more helpful, the other thing that impresses me is that the management works on the floor with the staff. another thing I like is how children are catered for it's great to see them being able to help themselves. If there is anything to mention it's the food could be kept a little bit hotter. Having said that Izumi is at the top of my favourite places to eat. Karl Bottomley read more

Alright buffet. Not the best Asian buffet I have visited but not the worst. A lot of the staff looked miserable when they were working. Some of the food items were not clearly marked and if you are vegetarian, it was hard to tell if some of the dishes such as the spring rolls contained meat. Plenty of meat dishes available and there was a serving station where you could have a freshly made stir fry using whatever ingredients you had picked. There was a variety of Chinese dishes as well as English dishes such as chips and onion rings. The quality was standard and as you would expect in a buffet place but I would not be coming back in a hurry. read more

My family and I visit Izumi regularly. No frills, good value Chinese and Oriental food and very popular with kids because they can choose their own food and they don't have to wait. The staff are always attentive and friendly, and the food always looks fresh and appealing. The only drawback is now word has spread, it has become very busy at peak times, but it is still a more than adequate night out midweek. read more

If I could give it zero stars then I would!! We didn't stay long enough to eat. The maitre de is so rude and off putting. They had mis-booked our reservation but made no apology for it and said Maitre de decided he wanted to argue the point with us and claiming we must have got it wrong. After then being left for over 25 minutes whilst he attended everyone else he decided he wanted to seat us as we put our coats on. This has been a good place in the past but unfortunately we won't be going back any time soon! read more

Rude staff!! The head waiter was rude and not very helpful, my son (4years old) has food allergies so cannot eat certain so they refused to serve us as I had brought a lunch for him. DESPICABLE LITTLE MAN I wonder if they have penalised other people for having medical problems or disabilities? read more

I visit Izumi on a regular basis with either friends or family, and sometimes both at the same time. I've always had an amazing time - food is second to none and the staff and Manager are fantastic! I'd never go anywhere else - this is definitely THE best chinese buffet in Essex. read more

We love Chinese and this is our familys favourite restaurant outside of China Town. It is very busy nowdays but we make sure we go when it first opens. Great selection of food, very clean and attentive staff. The only downside is that the tables are very close & its extremely noisy in there so not somewhere to go for an intimate meal. My family love this restaurant. The prices are great and we tend to go for a late lunch on a sunday - meaning we pay lunch price but fill up to last the evening. A great rang of chinese food and staff are always topping up. We love the grill where you make your own kebab things and they grill them for you. Food is hot and hot plates kept clean. My children aged 7 have no problem serving themselves. A range of desserts also. Tables a bit canteen style but at this price who minds. Staff are evry friendly and nothing too much bother, they clean your plates away quickly. Madison Heights next door offers a great range of entertainment for before or after. read more

Great food and excellent staff. The only down-side to this restaurant is the Roller Derby on the floor above. Although you are unable to hear the thunder of the roller-skates, you constantly hear the bass of the pounding music. It's a tad off-putting. That said the food is excellent and the staff are wonderful! read more
