Loved their yarn bowls, pottery, and jewelry selection. My friend also bought a $50 bag of self-selected discount yarn. We came for the yarn- they have two full rooms dedicated to it, with some nice name brands and quality fibers, some hand dyed locally, others from as far away as Australia. Broad variety of weights, fibers, and colors, almost had everything I was looking for. One thing I might suggest adding to the inventory is some beach-themed drop spindles and some roving (spinning fiber), grown and dyed in NC. We visited twice in the one week of our stay. The guy at the register is somewhat brusque but he's a hoot. The woman in charge of the yarn room was very sweet and helpful. There are two big well behaved shop dogs, but I recommend leaving your own pets at home, they are probably not allowed. All in all, we had a great time shopping and will be back next year- maybe with some of our projects made from the yarns we bought.

Of course I bought yarn to add to my stash, but I also got a pair of drift wood knitting needles I can't wait to use! This place had local art pieces, gift items, and some really pretty yarn! I really enjoyed my visit here and look forward to returning next time I visit Hatteras.

It's a lovely idea to merge a little coffee corner with a boutique, and reminds me a bit of a…read moresimilar experimental set-up in Raleigh at an art shop (the coffee part of things didn't end up lasting). But they seem to make it work well here. While waiting for my car to get worked on a little down the road, hubby and I stepped in to order a drink and kill some time. The boutique is rather small, but stocked full of clothes and accessories for women. Very Hot Topic-ish. Sweat bands with teenager-y statements on them; punk-y jewelry; and ironic pop culture pieces. Neighboring is a coffee-friendly store with a more adult motif and a connecting door. They weren't yet open, so we didn't get a chance to browse. On the far wall, you can order among iced coffees, fraps, americanos, and the other usual suspects. They have what must be around 50 flavor shot options -- 10 of which are sugar free. And a shot is included with your frap, which is what I got. The coffee was good, though consistency-wise, I would have liked a little more ice in my frap. No indoor seating, so take it onto the front porch and enjoy!

My cousin and I went out to the Gulfstream on the Hatteras Fever II. I don't know who the Captain…read morewas, because he never spoke to us, only yelled at everybody. The First Mate was Aidan, and he was a worker. He earned every bit of his tip. On our 10 hour trip we hit two, that's 2, schools of fish, and a shark that 2 of us on this 6-man crew had to fight for 45 minutes before they cut the leader. I would think a charter boat captain, who does this every day for a living, would be able to put you on some more fish, rather than riding around for hours. When we got back in they took the fish to the "cleaning station" which is a separate entity. They claimed, and we paid for 140 pounds of fish to be cleaned. Now, just in my head, dividing that by 6, my cousin and I should have gotten around 46 pounds of fish. When we got home and weighed it, we got 13 pounds. I don't know definitely that they took our fish, or just lied about the weight, but one or the other is true. They also nickel and dime you to death over there. It's extra to vacuum seal them, then it's $1 per shovel of ice for your cooler. I could not recommend these outfits to anyone I care about.

Overall, this was a great vacation and a good house. It does need some basic maintenance and…read moreupgrades, which is understandable since these houses are constantly rented. With that said, it had everything we needed and the view of the sound is spectacular. We did have to put in some service requests, but the individuals who managed this property were friendly and easy to contact. I was impressed with the amount of contact and service we had while visiting. Having two people with contact numbers that handle any property issues is a very nice amenity and not something I have experienced with other property management companies. I do wish that rates would go down to a more reasonable price point, but, in the post 'Rona world we are in, I'm afraid reasonable rates are a thing of the past. Rates are comparable to other rentals on the island. As a NC native, I just hope they decades of family vacation tradition can continue and we not get priced out of the area.
