It was clear every day how much they genuinely cared for the children. Ms. Marcela formed an especially special bond with Akila. Even when I was holding her, Akila would often reach for Ms. Marcela, which speaks volumes about the love, trust, and comfort she felt in her care. In our home, we lovingly refer to Ms. Marcela as "Abuelita" because of the nurturing and grandmotherly presence she has been in Akila's life. Ms. Hind was equally wonderful, and together they made Room 2 feel like a second home. Their kindness, patience, and dedication have left a lasting impression on our family. While we are excited to see Akila continue to thrive in Room 3, we will always be grateful for the foundation Ms. Marcela and Ms. Hind helped build during such an important stage of her development. So it was only natural for us to consider sending our son here, but this was a much newer/nicer facility than our old KA, so we ended up opting to send him to a different, cheaper daycare. Unfortunately, this ended up being a classic "you get what you pay for" situation, and we ended up sending him to several different facilities over the next few years. Once he started first grade, we ended up sending him here for after school daycare and he really enjoyed it. It was a significant upgrade from the YMCA-led aftercare that took place in his school's gym. Significant is not strong enough a word: night and day would be a better way to describe it. Things were so structured and calm at KA, compared to the YMCA where it kind of seemed like a free-for-all. And then over the course of the summer between first and second grade, he came here full time and he absolutely loved it. There was not a single day that he complained about going to summer school. He actually complained about NOT being able to go when we were on vacation, which is something I would have never imagined happening in 1,000 years. On his last day, he was close to tears because he was going to miss everyone so much. He loved the teachers, the kids and all of the fun that they had here. There were 1-2 field trips during summer school and they were the highlight of his week. Again, our only wish is that we would have just sent him here from day 1 and not messed around with the other options. The teachers and administrators are all great - we'll miss them too!

I emailed the owner at 3am with my concerns of what I was going through and at the earliest availability I truly needed help. Luckily, someone moved from the area and a spot became available!!! I learned that you get what you pay for and with this daycare you get a happy, healthy, satisfied child along with a peace of mind! It follows a traditional school calendar. My daughter started here at 22 months and continued all the way to Pre-K. The impact this sweet little school has had on my daughter is beyond measure. She LOVED this school and it instilled in her a love for learning and her classmates, who she developed deep friendships with and still sees on play dates even after completing her years at the preschool. The classes are small and close, with teachers who love what they do and have been there for years. Her graduation from Living Word Lutheran Preschool was in May of 2024, and she is now in Kindergarten and excelling, thanks to the work of these amazing teachers. I'm going to list several of the things I love about this school: - Teachers have lots of experience, love what they do, and continue to be lifelong learners (professional development annually). I'm a (former) high school teacher and this was important to me as a teacher myself. And they were such a blessing in my daughter's life - my daughter loved them all so much from the toddler class to the 2's to the 3's to pre-K. She still asks me how they're doing. We actually made the decision to join the church after our daughter was here for several years - and we love it. -Great activities - which in our years there- included St. Jude's Trike-a-thon, growing butterflies, nature walks, "dinosaur hunts," and tons of art projects in addition to the academics. -Lots of play time: so important for socialization. They have a wonderful, gated playground- definitely worth seeing on the tour. They get to ride tricycles out on the playground too in addition to all the climbing structures. My Gym visits Living Word Lutheran Preschool weekly (included in price) and they have other offered activities that come to the school including Soccer Shots and Boni's dance. -Academics-wise: I wanted her to be prepared for kindergarten and kindergarten has been a great experience based on her foundation from this preschool. -Organization/Communication: A handbook clearly outlines the school's procedures. They have an efficient car line before and after school, too, but my favorite thing to do was park in the farther church parking lot and walk my daughter up this walking path they have that goes to the entrance of the church. She loved running/hopping/skipping to school on that little walking path. The director, Ms. Bev, is amazing and she is to credit for the school's excellent communication. -Hours: As dual working parents, the hours 8:30-2:30 plus the ability to add before care and/or after care worked wonderfully for our family. I felt like I constantly had to reassure you that we appreciate your school because you would write back lengthy emotional emails when we would simply ask about something our child said happened. My husband even called a meeting with you to address this with you last year, and ask you to stop threatening us to leave each time we asked about a concern. Yes we were very happy with the Grove and Ms Claudia and Ms Eddy, until the pattern of failure to address the misbehavior became undeniable and my child was choked in Ms Marisol's class and left with a bruise and scratches. The more that happened and wasn't addressed, the more displeased we became. The first year at the grove was amazing, and MsEddy and Ms Claudia treated our first son with respect and guidance and he loved it. He loved it until the school continued to fail to address this other child containing to hurt and threaten my child's safety. ALL of which were acknowledged by you (once I asked what happened) and then minimized. Maybe your teachers need more support and staff to help supervise the classrooms, which have different spaces and are not open concept. The students cannot all be supervised by 1 teacher while the other one is preparing snack or changing diapers. What I asked of the school before you terminated us, was to evaluate this other child's disruption to the classroom. Our request was to know what actions happen when a child continues to cause bodily harm to another. Your response was that these are norm behaviors of children, which I disagree with completely. It is not normal for the same Child over the course of 1.5 years to touch my child's penis, bite him, push and pull him, grab toys from him daily, and eventually choke him and leave scratches. The word expulsion never came out in any of my emails with the school so before you call my facts libelous, please check yours. Your handbook that states an "open door policy" is not honored by you. In an email in January 2021 after we asked to do a visit to meet Ms Nayely since she was new you stated "Unfortunately, we do not plan to have parent classroom observations. They disrupt the routine and send the message that there is a lack of trust between home and school. Having been here since last year, I assume you are very comfortable with Ms. Eddy's leadership in the Toddler classroom and have full faith in her ability to guide her students and mentor her new assistant. I welcome and appreciate parent feedback, but I feel it is my responsibility to observe the classrooms and make necessary changes based on the information provided." Clearly you don't observe well enough if you cannot take actions to ensure proper supervision of the younger classrooms.
