The school could use an upgrade in lighting and maybe some small renovations. I hope there will be some capital campaign in the near future to help maintain and improve the facility. They adapt their care to each kid, each personality and make sure everyone feels good. They were particularly helpful for potty training, and very patient too! The new director is really making sure all key information are well communicated to the parents and is always seeking for enhancements. They have a curriculum for each of the classes, starting at 2 year old. A typical day starts with music, breakfast and circle time. Then they have a learning activity. They would spend time outside is weather permitted. They do art projects, learn songs, dance,... Also, they have a huge outdoor private playground (very rare in Manhattan) where the kids can play. They have a lot of toys from slide to seesaw and even scooters. They provide lunch as well, made by a wonderful cook on the premises in an actual kitchen. Week menus are provided to the parents (there is always a fruit for desert). I'm so happy we discovered this daycare and I'm confident that my kids there are growing so well and are very safe. Also note that they handled the Covid crisis perfectly. They organized recurrent zoom meetings (3 per week) to make sure the kids don't disconnect from school. Thanks to the great staff again! The founder and head teacher is an educator who combines extensive training in various holistic child-development and teaching philosophies/practices with an amazing intuition for how to connect with and nurture young children. She supports the children with exploring their interests, challenges them gently and helps them in their relationships with each other. My son would often come home messy from painting or gardening and tired but not exhausted or overstimulated. We're so thankful for this little gem of a school.

This is how I found Crayon Power Playschool! My kid is visiting it for over 2 month now, and I am just happy - that's what I was looking for. The teachers are very nice, always giving a feedback, and a ratio is 1 teacher to 3-4 kids. This is our first daycare and I was scared that I would be nervous while my kid is away. Turned out I am not :) Feeling safe. One other topic which was important to me is food, I'm not a fan of those basic school lunches served in a single use plastic, neither of lunches taken from home (small kids always want food from the other plate). In this place parents themselves give lunches to the whole group in an order (so not that often), the rule is "a main, a veggie and a fruit". I like that system, cause parents always want the best for their kids, so there is always some good stuff, fresh fruit and veggies. I would certainly recommend this place to anybody who is sharing the same values!

Horrible!! I wish I was warned about this school. There are no standards. The school is not under…read morethe Diocese therefore does not have to follow guidelines. There are good teacher and bad like any other school, but one of my son's teacher was barely out of college and her brother was in my son's class. A lot of nepotism and very much a cult. My son has an IEP due to epilepsy (btw not a standar but the law to be ollowed) and they refused to honor it. And I quote "if we give your son extra time then we would have to give everyone extra time" clearly displaying their lack of understanding what an IEP is. We handed the nurse a picture of our son and details in his epilepsy. Copies enough for every teacher and staff that he would be in contact with. Two months into the trimester, not one teacher knew he had epilepsy nor received our packet. There were so many problems with this beautiful school with their hard wood decorative cut logs, newly constructed labs, fish tanks and dogs and peacocks roaming the grounds. We were lured in by the appearance but that all it was. The school is very popular so my son was crammed into a classroom with 40 students!! Very disappointed and wanted to let the principal know when we decided to leave. He rudely and unceremoniously could care less about constructive criticism and was clear that we were leaving so he had nothing to say to us. Be better human beings Kellenburg let alone Catholics.

My daughter learned so, so much--from art, to letters, to the world of plants and animals, to how to interact with her new friends. The space is huge, and in the dead of winter they had a gym to run around in, and in summer, a playground a block away. They learned music, soccer, and, for one month, helped raise two baby chicks. My eldest, who actually appears in one of the photos, left for Pre-K reading and writing more than most of her peers. Additionally, outside providers come into the classroom for activities like yoga, music and performances. The longevity of the school means that it is part of a deep community network. Parents who attended themselves send their children and the school is very involved in the neighborhood activities.
