I rented a golf cart from this business for a weekend trip, and I want to share my experience as clearly and respectfully as possible so future customers know what to expect. When I first arrived at the office, the building had a strong ammonia smell, but I chose to overlook it because they had pets and I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. We were given our first golf cart, but it wouldn't start. The employee helping us also struggled to get it started and eventually brought out a second cart, which took a moment to start as well. Once it was running, we headed out and used it for about an hour and a half without issue. Later that night, we took the cart out again to make use of the daily rental. About ten minutes down the beach, the cart made a loud noise and completely died. We were stranded on the beach around 10:40 PM. I called the owner, who asked for our location and said they would come help. I was genuinely appreciative, especially given the time of night. They arrived with another cart, and I thanked them multiple times. The son had to start the replacement cart for us because it also wouldn't start on its own. We headed back toward the beach exit, but this second cart immediately felt extremely slow and made concerning noises. After four attempts, it couldn't make it off the sand and onto the street. Even with all of us getting out and trying to push it, it wouldn't move. At this point, we had gone through two carts and were stranded again, so I called back. I said, respectfully, that "at this point I'm getting a little ticked off" because this was now the third cart with issues. The owner texted asking for our location again, and I sent it. The text thread clearly shows the timeline, our location being provided multiple times, and the fact that we were stranded now over an hour waiting for assistance. I was okay with the wait initially due to the fact it was late, they were trying to resolve the issue, and we were not in crystal beach. When they returned, the son began trying to start a fourth cart. I respectfully walked up to him and told him he didn't need to do that and that we would prefer to walk home rather than risk another breakdown. He insisted the cart had just been rebuilt and wouldn't break down, then rolled his eyes when I expressed concern. I asked if I should speak to someone else, and he pointed to the truck, I'm assuming to his father. I approached the owner to asking about the next steps. He told me I would get this new cart and go and they could discuss it tomorrow. I told him the same thing I told the lady and the son. I asked him if I need to come to the place tomorrow to ask the lady for the refund. He got out of the vehicle and started walking towards the trailer saying how I wouldn't be getting a refund. I then told him "Sir, there's no need to be rude. I'm trying to be respectful." He stated he was not being rude but that we were in crystal f**** beach, with low daily rates and coming out at 11 o'clock at night. That is when he completely escalated. He started yelling at me and said, word for word: * "You're an entitled bitch." * "Welcome to Crystal f***ing Beach." * "You're a broke bitch just looking for money." * "Suck a d***." * "If you leave a bad review, I'll sue you for defamation." He also flicked me off multiple times while continuing to yell. I was shocked and responded with, "If I'm a broke bitch, then how am I also entitled?" That was the only thing I said back to him. I did not call him names or threaten him. The rest of the girls with me heard everything he said and stepped in to support me, but I asked them to walk away with me so the situation wouldn't escalate further. Again, I'm posting this review as I would hate for any other person to experience this complete unprofessionalism. Please do your research and find another place. read more

We rented a golf cart from this company for three days. The cart was delivered on time, and the pickup process was easy, so we were off to a great start. Unfortunately, later that first evening, the drive belt came off, leaving us unable to use the cart. Thankfully, we were already back at our beach house. I called the next morning, explained the issue, and they responded quickly by bringing us another cart. I understand that mechanical issues can happen, and I appreciated how promptly they handled that situation. However, the replacement cart developed another problem the following night when it leaked gasoline all over the carport at our rental house. I started calling around 8:00 a.m. but didn't reach anyone until about 9:00 a.m. I was told someone would come "right over," but after waiting an hour with no one showing up, and after several unanswered phone calls, my husband and I decided to drive to the business ourselves because we didn't want to waste another day of our vacation. When I explained that no one had come as promised and that we were becoming frustrated, the employee's attitude was disappointing. She said she could give us another cart, but we would have to drive it back ourselves. That was fine with us--we just wanted a working cart. She then brought us what appeared to be one of the oldest carts they had available. Like she was punishing us or something. I mean I was a paying customer it was not free. By the end of our trip, we had gone through three different golf carts in three days. While I appreciate that the company replaced the first cart quickly, the repeated mechanical issues, poor communication, and lack of customer service during the second problem made the experience frustrating. I hope they improve the maintenance of their carts and communication with customers. read more

We had a terrible and frankly alarming experience with this company. We rented a golf cart, and when the owner came to swap it out, his son brought the new cart to our house while our kids (ages 17-19) were still out with the original one. The owner parked at the end of the street and started cussing loudly because the kids weren't back yet. When I asked why he was so angry, he ignored me. We immediately went to find our kids on the beach and called them to return. When they got back, the owner completely lost control -- yelling at us, threatening to fight, saying things like "fight or fly," and claiming he'd call the cops. He even called us a bunch of drunks, which is ridiculous. Yes, we've had a few drinks -- we're on vacation with our family -- but we were far from drunk. He's clearly a loose cannon. He even bragged that he's had to pull guns on people before. That's not normal behavior for anyone, let alone someone running a business. He also claimed he tried to confront our teenagers on the beach to swap the cart, but honestly, if some stranger pulls up claiming they need to swap your rental, who in their right mind would just hand it over? Our kids are respectful but also cautious -- as they should be. I would highly recommend avoiding this company altogether. The owner is unstable, aggressive, and unprofessional. we had a 3 day rental. 2 of the 3 days the carts broke down. we were stranded on the beach at night with our children. waited over an hour for them. they didnt answer until after we dialed 4 times. then they hung up on us. didnt give us a replacement cart for the 3rd day. asked for a replacement and or refund. their answer was a big hard no. horrible customer service. read more

First and last time I will ever rent from this place. Their carts are just pure pieced together junk! We always rent from Jay's for the last 15 yrs and have never had a problem and nothing but great customer service and courtesy. Unfortunately he was out of town on our visit so we had to rent from these people and will never go back again nor recommend them to anyone. Then they get all your information including your card info and throw it in a tray right next to the front door for anyone to grab and steal it. But the worse was the first cart we got had some issues so they bring us another one the next morning expecting it to be in much better shape and was just the opposite. It was pieced together with parts that didn't even match and with dry rotted seat covers to cover the damaged seats but had to put a towel on it just so you could stand. to sit on it. Then we were told we could fold the seat down in the back to put our chairs and ice chest on and then we notice that the seat is hanging and had to call them again. Was told to just keep it until the next day since it was our departure date. We had set up arrangements with Tonya that booked us to have the cart picked up at 3 since we paid for a late check out and then get a rude message and calls at 10am that we need to get that cart back to the cabin immediately for them to pick up. We called them to tell them we had made arrangements to keep it until 3 and was told that was never told to us and they were picking it up right away. So we go back to the cabin and notice the back seat fell off the piece of junk they rented us because it was missing screws and the others were rusted away along with the rotten strap that broke. We are in our 60's and don't tear things up and have never had rental problems with Jay's or any cabins. Then the man screams at me and tells me we BETTER FIND THAT SEAT! And he also tells us that he spoke with the lady that told us we could keep it until 3 and didn't even apologize but said to find the seat and they would pick up at 3. We spent 2 hours looking for a piece of junk seat that wasn't even any good and never could find it. I took many pictures of all the issues including a hanging blinker handle that didn't even work, pieced together medal that was rusted out instead of replacing it, seats torn and rusted off the metal and missing screws, etc. I have never been screamed at by a business especially when the problems are caused by them. This was the worst experience we have ever had renting from someone. Even local businesses that were close by said they would never recommend them. Sure wish we would have known that before. If you are going to Crystal Beach or Bolivar, please rent your golf cart from Jay's. Great customer service along with courtesy and fast response time if anything should go wrong. I didn't want to post this but I feel everyone has the right to know what they are getting in to and to be treated with respect and courtesy especially by a business that survives on money from their customers. But instead, this man was rude and disrespectful to a woman and a customer that will never go back because of his own negligence. You can't run a business this way and survive in a small town where word travels fast. Everyone I know in that town works hard and are very motivated to please their customers but not this place and you can definitely tell. I barely ever write reviews but had to write one after our experience with this company. We tried to just inquire about a golf cart and called twice and no answer. (It was right when they opened so knew they could have been busy so we spaced out the calls) ... So we called a third time and were greeted by presumably the owner in the most unprofessional disgusting way. He answered the phone and said "well if you would have looked at the message i sent you after the last two times you called then you'd see that we sold out already" - We received no message whatsoever I suppose he sent this message in his delusional head of his. There are so many other companies to use in the area, I suggest using another. I'm sure they're the type to charge up the ass for a singular spec of sand or some other BS anyways. Great was great and very accommodating. He was able to get us a cart same day that was bigger than we wanted and then swapped it the next day for the size we paid for. He dropped off and picked up and was very easy to work with. Cart ran well entire time but he gave us a number for 24 hour maintenance if needed. read more
