I CANT WAIT TO GO TO CHURCH!
By Bruce Bisel
I look forward to going to church every seven days. That day is the
most important day of any week to me. Why? Because we get to
approach our creator, God. We get to pray to Him, collectively,
expecting to be blessed with healing and success in life. We get to
praise Him. You may say that, "We can do all that at home." Sure.
But, we never do. When was the last time you praised God some
where, besides in church? We need the comradery of others. It is SO
much more meaningful to us to worship with others than, it is alone.
I used to be shy in worship. I did not raise my hands o God or say,
"Amen." I did not get excited in church. I kept my praise solemn.
(grave, serious with no smiling, jumping, raising of hands or clapping)
I did not go around shaking hands. (no wonder when strangers think
we are unfriendly) The only one that could hear my quiet voice was
God. I did not clap my hands in praise. I was afraid some one would
think, "I am a fanatic." You may ask, "What has changed you?" I
stopped worrying about what others think about me. Now, I am
concerned about what GOD thinks of me. Now I am accompanied by
other worshipers, who sing loud. (so loud that no one but, God would
ever hear my little voice. Now my hands are way up in the air, in
prayer (reaching for God) when we pray collectively. (I Timothy 2:8)
And so many hands are up in the air; (almost every body) Nobody
would notice my two hands in the air. You might say, "There is no
church like that." My church is The I-Town Church. The I stands for it's
original location. (Indianapolis, Indiana) Now, there are two other
location. I worship at the Bluffton, Indiana location. When I arrive to
church, a greeter meets me at the beginning of the driveway. At the
parking lot, more greeters direct me to my parking spot. At the doors,
more greeters welcome me into church. Once I'm inside, I can get a
drink or a snack. Then I enter the worship auditorium. The second
worship service has already started. Every hand is up in prayer and
praise to God. The worship band leads us in praise songs. The guests
are welcomed. Prayer is ed. A two minute pause is extended to greet
one another and give a warm welcome to every one. And a sermon is
preached. At the end, confession of sins (Luke 13:3;) and faith in Jesus
(John 3:16;) are offered to all, who need it. Then one last song before
praise service is over. After that, there are several baptisms. (every
four weeks) This is a typical Sunday praise service. And I am so proud
to be an active member of The I-Town Church. read more
