This is going to be a bit long but please stay with me. Our journey to Dr. Lowenstein was 7 years…read more Our daughter started having back pain at age 11. Our road to answers started with her pediatrician. Then PT, chiropractors, massage therapy and a spine clinic. Several x-rays and MRIs later, nobody had the correct diagnosis for her and none of the treatments they told us to try gave any relief. Fed up with the system we looked toward one more medical professional, an osteopath. We met with him and within seconds he showed concern with the extreme curve in her spine. He ordered another x-ray and 3 views on an MRI. He diagnosed her with Scheuermann's Kyphosis. Basically her spine was caving in on itself. He was not confident in the abilities of the professionals in our state (neither were we) and suggested we search elsewhere for a surgeon. We researched the disorder and Dr.'s that treat this and found Dr. Lowenstein. We asked our osteopath for help ensuring this was a good place to go and he told us to get her there ASAP. We scheduled a telehealth visit because we are 5 hours away. I sent Dr. Lowenstein everything from the prior 6 years. His staff was amazing (shout out to Victor)! He confirmed her diagnosis and told us she had a 94 degree curve in her spine with the normal person's curve being 40 degrees. We went forward with an 8 hour surgery and every step of that day was nerve wracking, but we were met with the most amazing team we could have hoped for. The OR staff, PICU staff and Ped's staff could not have done anything to make us feel more at ease and comfortable while we were away from home. My daughter is 6 months post surgery and feels better than she ever has since she this all started. She is pain free with a 44 degree curve and 2 inches taller!! She leaves for college this coming fall and we can send her knowing she will focus on studies and fun instead of any pain in her back. Dr. Lowenstein changed her life and ours as well. He is our hero among the medical field and deserves all the accolades that come his way. Thank you does not seem enough so I hope this review helps the team understand how grateful we are. Kindest regards. The Lucas family

It took me about 4 years, but I finally connected with Dr. David Bub after having some problems. The Allentown office got me in for a quick appointment and immediately schedule me for the procedures I needed. They handled everything from insurance to scheduling with Lehigh Valley hospital. After my procedure Doctor Bub was able to get me a quick appointment with a gastrologist that had me on a 6 month waiting list. I learned after meeting with Dr. Bub that he completed his residency at Mt. Sinai which is one of the nation's best Gastroenterology program and ironically where I received my first surgery. I would seriously considering seeing Dr. Bub or any of his colleagues if you have colorectal problems. Compared to NYC this is a small area and finding a top surgeon is definitely important.

I asked the nurses on the floor who they recommended as a Gastrointerologist surgeon and they came back with a number of well qualified surgeons, Dr. Bub among the list. I felt from the moment i met with Dr. Bub and spoke to him, i had made the right decision. I just had my 6 week post-op appt. and have never felt better. Lois D

All the horror stories you hear about doctors can be found at Highland Surgical Associates. Please…read moreget a second opinion and either way, I'd avoid them at all costs. Office staff is nice and just trying to earn a living wage. The doctors and "VPs" are everything wrong with healthcare. They have covered up mistakes, will not correct them, gaslight, and have left me with incredibly difficult questions for me to figure out essentially blindly, since they are obviously not telling me exactly what truly happened during my surgery. They should be shut down for not disclosing what actually transpired during my surgery. The doctor ignored my requests pre surgery and operated on me in a way I specifically asked him not to. Of course, he does not recall these conversations and insists I have a mental health issue despite trusting his "wait and see" approach for months. His office staff was kind and essentially I have to take my case elsewhere but it is fairly complex to do so, without elaborating. If this is where US healthcare is going, it is a terrifying future. You know how products today are built to fail, "controlled obsolescence"... Highland Surgical Associates has shown me that they are trying to take this approach to our bodies- doing procedures that ultimately fail their patients and leave them worse off, without acknowledging evidence of the damage they've done (including clear, obvious images). Sincerely, run from these disingenuous hacks. Happy to privately validate this review if ever challenged.

From the first call to appointments to surgery to initial recovery to post op... this team is outstanding. Everyone is friendly and professional. Dr Kammerer is punctual, greets you in the waiting room, spends ample time asking and answering questions, assessing, reviewing medical records, and setting up next steps. My patient path took me to many doctors before I met him and he is the best of the best. He is extremely knowledgeable yet explains things in easy to understand language. He demonstrates careful decision making and wisdom when formulating a plan following protocol for my specific condition. Despite a grueling schedule he was present and caring while I was in the hospital. He was reassuring and put my recovery in perspective when I felt as though I was struggling. As a seasoned professional nurse for over 30 years I have interacted with many doctors. I can honestly say Dr. Kammerer is one of a kind and I am grateful he was my surgeon during a very scary time.
