We've been coming to the area for 45yrs and really luv it. I was looking for new shops and restaurants in the area and ran across this little shop. Cure store. I enjoy dropping by when I'm in Saugatuck. Everything is handmade by the same artist who is also the store owner, I believe. Today I bought a $10 Saugatuck coaster, probably for my living room. They have a lot of gift-y items and if you go to the back of the attached second room, they have a Christmas items area plus a small sale rack. read more

I love this shop! Such unique items. I am shocked by some of the bad reviews. The women that own this shop are so delightful and nice. Every time we come to town we visit, and I never walk out of there without buying a few things. The owners are so personable, and always have great stories to share and great recommendations if you're looking for a unique gift. You can tell they truly love what they do. A cool shop with cool stuff and happy staff. Prices are a little "gouge the tourist" but it is what it is.

I loved this shop and I count myself lucky to have gotten out the door without buying one of everything. I did however get a nice little wooden plaque to hang on the door of my husband's armoire and a lovely stand to place my cookbook on while cooking. The stand is real unique in that it is metal with little magnets and you can either use it to hold your cookbook upright or you can use the magnets to attach a recipe card. I got one in red as I feel every room could use a spot of red and it's my accent color in my black and white kitchen. I plan to visit this shop in the future as I have plans to be the area again this summer. read more

I wholeheartedly agree with the other 2 reviews. The woman in the store (owner?) Is one of the rudest I've ever encountered. A stark contrast to the friendly and helpful staff we encountered in every other shop. Never greeted us but proceeded to badgering us every time we tried to look at anything, after the 3rd time we decided to just leave with her still making nasty under her breath comments even on our way out the door. Please to not patronize this business. I absolutely love shopping and supporting local but this shop does not deserve that support since this conduct appears to be a pattern. read more

Do not support such a disrespectful shop owner. I've never been treated so rudely in my life as the guy in the store treated me. I have a one-year-old son and when he touched the merchandise the guy shouted from across the store to keep my child away from his products. He didn't even make eye contact. Then he turned the other way and shook his head rolling his eyes. I approached him about it, and he proceeded to tell me that I didn't own anything in the store, so we had no right to touch anything. Wow. I was fuming. If I can prevent one sale, is feel like I got some sort of retribution. I'm not used to this abuse. read more

I visited this cute little store over the holiday weekend and loved it! Their selection of unique gifts and local art is great, and they had some wonderful ideas for home decoration. On top of all that, they had delicious samples of some of the food items they carry out on the counter! Will definitely be visiting again soon! read more

We've shopped this store many times. We live in Illinois but camp in South Haven ( my wife and I, 3 daughters and husbands and 5 wonderful grandchildren) every 4th of July. My wife and daughters were shopping in the store and I was grandkids and grand dog watching outside. There was an American flag outside the store and I thought this would be a good time for a civic lesson. I asked how many stripes and stars were in the flag. A lady came out of the store and say, very rudely, "Don't disrespect the flag, put it back!" I said, "excuse me?" She said, "put it back now!" I, very embarrassed and complied. She returned to the store giggling as she passes my daughter saying, "I showed him". I DID NOT AND WOULD NEVER DISRESPECT OUR FLAG. This is not a store to patronize. I'm not the only person to have a bad experience here. We will NEVER shop here again. STAY AWAY. I read more

I can also relate to the other review with the extremely disrespectful shop owner, except it was a woman with me. They have a "no photos" policy that I did not see the sign for, and wow, did she let me have it when I took a photo of something. First off, this is a little boutique shop, not an art gallery and it could be considered a form of flattery if people are taking photos. She came up to me, told me that they ask that I don't take any photos, so I kindly said "oh I'm sorry" and put my phone away. She then continued to mutter under her breath to tell me that I was being rude and if I'm going to take photos, then I better be buying it. She still continued to mutter under her breath even after that but I started walking out the door as soon as she called me rude. It was completely uncalled for and I'm not surprised to see other terrible reviews for the way the shop owners treat their customers. Prior to her abrasive interaction, not once was I greeted or asked for help and I was one of the only ones in the store. I've worked in retail and am now an entrepreneur myself, and these people need to lighten up and stop trying to control every movement their customers make in their store. They should be grateful to have customers. It is what is. And what it is, is rude AF. read more

Traveling home to Minnesota, we stopped in Saugatuck MI on our way north, where we discovered "It Is What It Is." We don't go into every shop we pass by, but this one pulled us in with its creative window displays. The shop is full of unique items not commonly found other tourist shops; there is something interesting everywhere you turn. Patty, the very friendly owner, works hard to keep her inventory unique and fresh. We highly recommend it! read more
