As of May 17th, my #1 preset will be something else, and I'll take my 4 hours a day listening habit elsewhere -- probably SiriusXM, online or to my iPod. Big time epic fail, Greater Media Detroit. WRIF fails because it covers everything in a layer of faux-abrasive-tough-guy-posing-as metalhead stylings; but still plays the equivalent to musical diarrhea. Straight from the get-go, WRIF seems tailored for rednecks and NASCAR rallies. Not the cool, REAL kind of rednecks, mind you, who would strap you to a gun rack, dowse you in gasoline, read you the Bible and then flick the match. I love those guys. No, this is more of a rock station for people who enjoy bands like Creed and Puddle of Mudd. Fast food hillbillies who gorge on repetitive rock radio. Consummate middle American consumers, whose knowledge of metal music probably fails to extend past Fred Durst's rantings or Ozzy's "No More Tears". No matter how many "tough guy" nick-names they give their hosts like "Screamin' Scott" or "Moshin' Matt", they can't make up for the fact that they play watered-down garbage passing as metal. This wouldn't offend me nearly as much if they didn't claim they knew the first thing about heavy-effin' metal. Despite what the ignorant tell you, Slayer is not the only metal band, and playing crap like Shinedown, Buckcherry, and Nickelback nearly every hour defines exactly why this station sucks the big one.

I have WOMC on my presets on my Jeep radio. I can't imagine listening to it all day unless I had a…read morejob that left it on as default but it's a great station to flip to for a nostalgia trip as I search through the dial. (Which isn't really a dial anymore.) I'm a bit surprised at the level of hate this station is getting in the scant few reviews it has on Yelp. Doesn't just about every city have a modern oldies station like this? Lots and lots of 80s, some 70s, a bit of 90s. When I was a kid they played mostly 50s and 60s top 40 but the march of time goes on. Sure they play the same songs over and over again but don't most stations? Hey, if it ain't broke... I think that's why we have more than one radio station to choose from. The morning show people are pretty insufferable but again, I think that's pretty par for the course and I'm quick to hit buttons as soon as I'm not liking what I'm hearing. It's no CBC - my favorite radio station- or no WDET but it's not supposed to be. It beats the hell out of WNIC; I'll say that much. I'll probably never listen to WOMC again if I ever get to the point of driving vehicles that have Bluetooth hookups to play music from off my phone or even Sirius radio but for now it fills a spot and I'd actually probably look back and miss it a little after a long period of it's absence... that beep, beep, yeah! jingle and whatnot.

As a Long Islander, stopped listening after a week into March this year, extremely repetitive on most songs every 5+ hour gap. I do NOT recommend this station to anyone, including in Detroit Metro Area. If you want the best classic hits, listen to LONG ISLAND Radio Stations like 102.3 WBAB (Babylon) and 103.1 WBZO MAX FM (Bay Shore). GET THE APPS FOR THOSE RADIO STATIONS RIGHT NOW! BOTH of these radio stations play much much more variety of classic hits compared to fracturing WOMC. I feel like no one is willing to give it listen anymore. GO BANKRUPT WOMC AND DIE FOREVER! When I come to Michigan one day, I will play either of the following 3 radio stations: 100.3 WNIC (DETROIT'S MOST LISTENED TO), 102.3 WBAB, or 103.1 WBZO MAX FM. WNIC deserves a complete 5/5 because of CHELSEA!!! I LOVE CHELSEA!!! (I wish I could get on Zoom with her or just say hi to her from Facebook live ) While the WNIC hosts and Michigan residents may not be comfortable hearing Long Island-Based commercials and promos, I once again EXTREMELY STRONGLY RECOMMEND WBAB and WBZO if you want the BEST classic rock and hits! #LongIslandPride

You may find them entertaining if you are an occasional listener, but you will find yourself screaming at the radio if you listen on a daily basis. Jim Harper is definitely a legend in his own mind and, if we have to hear one more time about how Cindy Canty ALMOST went to med school,well, it's enough to make you need a doctor. The Detroit radio market is on a downward spiral- thank God for NPR!
