They left a business card when they left, and although I wasn't in the market for couples counseling, I was in the market to speak with a therapist. At the time, I had a job that was going nowhere and I felt useless because I wasn't using my degree, I was in an abusive long distance relationship, I lived in a house with dirty irresponsible roommates, and my anxiety was at an all-time high. Although I was medicated in the past (and currently am now after some revelations) I did not want to be medicated at that time and wanted to learn how to handle my anxiety on my own. Not only did Jo-Ann teach me wonderful cognitive therapy techniques, but she also encouraged me to go to cosmetology school, which is what I had always wanted to do, but hesitated because my parents told me to go to college and get a "real job". I am now a very successful hairstylist, I have my own apartment, a wonderful partner, and although I eventually decided that I needed medication to treat my mental illnesses, I'm not on nearly as many as I was when I was in high school and college. I haven't seen Jo-Ann in a few years because I have moved, but I really wanted to thank her for changing my life for the better. The people she said she saw in the room with me were described in very general descriptions, none of which resonated or were familiar to me. I also felt her questions were leading or fishing a little. She asked if my mother was passed or alive. I would think she would know prior, if she was in the room. It may have just been my reading, but honestly 90% felt extremely generalized. Or typical, with regards to how people try to sum you up. She said she saw me in an aerobic dance class, possibly Zumba. I love watching dancing on tik tok but have never done those type classes, or will. I thought this was kind of intuitive regarding my love of dance, then I realized I was wearing Yoga pants and an aerobic style gym shirt.. I may be hard to read, but only a couple things resonated in the hour I was there, and those easily could've been from picking things up from conversation and looks. There was nothing concrete to suggest mom was really there. I liked Lindsay a lot. She may work for you but didn't for me. I gave two stars because I felt slightly better after leaving simply because I think it was therapeutic. And the office is beautiful. But nothing stood out or was convincing. For $300 for an hour I expected more. Also it will cost $10 to park there unless you find a spot on the street, which is difficult. I'm leaving this review because I had read so many great reviews. Was really hoping to connect, but I don't believe it happened for me.
