I'm also a physician myself, and I know the difficulty of running a private practice in this day and age. It is very challenging, yet their office has not only expanded but improved therapeutic modalities, treatment options, as well as remaining open to communication where office staff will address your concern immediately. I have seen Dr. DeVine since the age of 6. He has always had my back, he is family at this point, and one of the best psychiatrists, I know of. He puts the emphasis on the patient and humbly meets them where they're at. He has always gone above and beyond, and I'm confident the quality of his practice will remain exceptional in the years to come. But, most importantly the therapist seemed very competent to relating to young children. Today was the second session where I got to approve the treatment plan base on an extensive interview in the previous session. There seemed to be a genuine sense of wanting to help and a high degree of empathy from the therapist. I know these things take time, but am very optimistic that we have made a good choice. The one thing I wish was more streamlined is their procedure for approving documents. The approval for request of services is done by signing on a laptop using just your finger. How the resulting scrawl could be proven to be my signature is beyond me. Sometimes businesses use technology in ways that really don't make sense. I understand that they want a signature before beginning therapy, and that their process sends it directly to the insurance company for approval, but this is one case where paper and fax or scanned document would make a lot more sense. Two sessions so far and I feel like we made a good choice.

They left a business card when they left, and although I wasn't in the market for couples counseling, I was in the market to speak with a therapist. At the time, I had a job that was going nowhere and I felt useless because I wasn't using my degree, I was in an abusive long distance relationship, I lived in a house with dirty irresponsible roommates, and my anxiety was at an all-time high. Although I was medicated in the past (and currently am now after some revelations) I did not want to be medicated at that time and wanted to learn how to handle my anxiety on my own. Not only did Jo-Ann teach me wonderful cognitive therapy techniques, but she also encouraged me to go to cosmetology school, which is what I had always wanted to do, but hesitated because my parents told me to go to college and get a "real job". I am now a very successful hairstylist, I have my own apartment, a wonderful partner, and although I eventually decided that I needed medication to treat my mental illnesses, I'm not on nearly as many as I was when I was in high school and college. I haven't seen Jo-Ann in a few years because I have moved, but I really wanted to thank her for changing my life for the better. If you are looking for a therapist in the Brandon or Tampa area, then look no further. If I ever get engaged, I will be sure to book appointments and make the drive to see her and Chuck to have a few sessions to build a healthy foundation for marriage.

After repeated conversations about this happening, Sam took offense and took it upon himself to cancel both my personal appointments and joint appointments with my husband without ever notifying us which caused us to waist time and money traveling to the center only to then find out someone else had taken our appointment times. We had to find a new therapist, which was not easy considering that we both were working very diligently with Larissa and had made so much progress. However, this individual is absolutely horrible to do business with and has no idea what customer service or professionalism is. When my account was double charged for our last visit I called to get Sam to reverse it and he refused, so I had to contact my bank and file a claim with them to have the funds reversed. I would NOT recommend doing any type of business with this crook however, Larissa (one of the therapists that works there part time) is amazing to work with, its just to bad that she works for a complete moron!
