In the year since we moved to Florida, we had few issues with Island Pediatrics (IP). However, this was in between the standard shots recommended by the CDC and other government agencies and lobbyists.
When we took our son in for his 4 year old check up, he was sick with RSV. The doctors at IP still wanted to give him the whole cadre of vaccines recommended for four-year-olds. I told them no, thank you "especially not the flu shot". Doctor told me to find another doctor and handed me a sheet which included the following propaganda, erm, I mean...information:
_____________
Question: Does thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative, cause autism?
A. Thimerosal, an ethylmercury-containing preservative, has now been removed from all routinely recommended vaccines with the exception of the influenza vaccine.

[sarc]Now, I'm not a smart man and don't know much about science, but a couple of questions occur to me after reading their propa...information pamphlet.[/sarc]
1. If "Thimerosal, an ethylmercury-containing preservative" is not dangerous, why was it removed from "all routinely recommended vaccines" (except one)?
2. If "Thimerosal, an ethylmercury-containing preservative" is dangerous enough that it was removed from "all routinely recommended vaccines with the exception of the influenza vaccine", why was it also not removed from the flu vaccine?
The doctor also told me that she was concerned that if our children were not vaccinated, if we brought them into the waiting room with other children, the other children would get sick. I asked, "if the vaccines work so well, how can my non-vaccinated children get your vaccinated children sick?" Doctor just looked at me with a vacant expression for a minute then repeated that we have different philosophies and we needed to find another pediatrician.
Gladly. Free market and personal education means I'm not interested in taking my children to see these folks anyway.
I don't recommend you take your children there either unless you like them being injected with heavy metals, formaldehyde, and tissue from aborted babies. (Don't believe me, ask to read the ingredients label on the vaccine bottle next time you are in the quack shop.) read more
