What a wonderful treasure I found in the Village of the Arts community in Bradenton, FL!…read more Owner and artist, Ruth Warren has created an interactive, reuse art gallery. When you walk in the door, you are immediately embraced with the love and whimsy of this cute shop, gallery, and studio. Ruth showcases her art but also the art of those in her community. The focus on reuse which not only shows you can create beauty from found objects, also shows a commitment to being a part of saving our environment. Ruth's enthusiasm for my ability to create my own journal from these amazing kits they make for customers, inspired me to give it a try! You can see the kit in one of my photos! I look forward to my creation! Ruth gave me some advice on the type of glue to use but otherwise, she said to use my own creativity with putting it together. I also bought a couple of vintage rings. She had a large selection she had picked up over the years and offered to her customers at such reasonable prices. I couldn't resist a couple of unique rings! Ruth and Lee were both a joy to meet and they explained that they also offer classes. Please see my photos for those details! I really want to get a group of my friends together to do an art project! What fun! I took a few photos in the gallery while trying to be respectful of the artists' works to give you an idea of how pretty and welcoming the space is and how abundant the offerings! The light is simply beautiful! Please stop by and check out this amazing place in the Village of the Arts to support our small businesses and local artists!

I found this gem in Village of the Arts in Bradenton, FL while exploring the village!…read more Owner, Mark Gagnon, was so welcoming! He moved to the Bradenton, FL area from Massachusetts about 7-8 years ago and opened up Monark (with his wife Monica... Monica and Mark = Monark) to showcase his art and custom framing along with a gallery to showcase and sell other artists' beautiful works. I purposely don't take many close-up photos of people's artwork because I know it's special but Mark gladly let me take a few pics around the gallery so those of you who see this review can get an idea of the beautiful space and offerings. Mark creates most of the abstract paintings and showed us one that he said was one of the few good things to come out of the pandemic. He has created an amazing, abstract painting of sparkling color on black represents a city of lights. I believe abstract is so wonderful because it's meaning and what you see can be very subjective to the person viewing it but this piece is terrific and I think I could look at it over and over and find something new each time! Another piece he did with golds and aquas which you can see on the wall in one of my photos, is so beautiful. I immediately saw a bird in part of the painting and felt a burst of joy from the beautiful colors. Mark also does custom framing and in one of my photos you can see some of the selection of frames. He explained how he has been framing for many years in Massachusetts and when he moved here and opened his business, he realized quickly that he needed to add brighter colors to his available frames for his Florida clientele. I was immediately drawn to some of the bright-colored frames and already plan to have a favorite print framed in one. Monark gallery also showcases quite a few other artists in the community. There are amazing prints, jewelry, woodwork, floral arrangements, silks, and more! My friend with me has been searching for the right tables for her house and found 2 at the gallery. Mark also delivers for a really reasonable fee if you buy a bigger piece of art and need help getting it to your space. His regular hours are limited but you can visit by appointment on many days the shop is not open for regular hours. You can also visit during the Village of the Arts monthly Art Walk which happens on the first Friday and Saturday. Mark also took the time to give us some suggestions for other places to visit and restaurants to try. He let me know about the Jazz Festival in Bradenton after I commented on a print of a jazz artist he had framed. Don't miss checking out this charming gallery and framing studio to support a local artists and business owner!

This place is totally disorganized. I purchased a wyland piece for my husband for Christmas. I knew…read morewhat I wanted so all I had to do was go in and point out the piece. You cannot walk out with the art you purchased that day but they order it for you. Which was fine with me as long as it made it on time for Christmas. For this reason that I got what I wanted in time for when I needed it I gave an extra star. Here's where the rest of the story gets ugly: I was told to make a down payment and then the rest of it would come out of my account on Dec 15th. Then later that day the rep called me and stated he needed my CC info and photo of my ID again over the phone/text. I reluctantly obliged but that set off a flag to pay a little more attention to this transaction. On Dec 1st a charge was made for the remaining balance for this item. I waited for 2 days to see if I got an email or message with a tracking number. I received no notification or tracking number. So I texted my rep that texted me asking for my personal info a couple of weeks prior-No answer. So then I called the gallery during business hours in a Saturday-no answer. So I called the reps phone that was working with me-no answer. So I sent an email asking about this-I never got a response to me email ever. I decided I'd drive in the next day and see what was up. My rep texted me while I was already en route to St. Armand's that he was off on Saturday and would look today. Why couldn't he just have texted that the day before and said he wasn't working and would get back to me?!? I figured I'd already make a day of it coming down anyways so I still went down to ask my questions and maybe get a tracking number. WHEN I CAME IN HE ROLLED HIS EYES AND SAID I TEXTED YOU THIS MORNING before I could say a word!!! I could've melted I was so mad. About 2 days later he gave me a tracking number in my order. When I came back to pick up the item from the store another gentleman had to help me because my rep left for the day. This other rep kept leaving me to go try to make other sales. It took over an hour to pick up an item I had a slip for and paid in full. The people were not coming in to buy they were just trying to get out of the rain. Then they lost the shipping box it came in and the man wrapped my sculpture in bubble wrap and put it in a different cloth bag that I think was meant for the bronze statues that they sell there. Also, my mom wanted to buy a light box for her piece she owns and the rep wanted to just put it in under my account because he was too lazy to switch to file for her account. All in all they were rude, unprofessional, and unorganized. I will never buy another piece from here again.
