I recently had the privilege of visiting IIOC for the very first time as a non-Muslim. For a while, I had been wanting to learn more about Islam, but I didn't grow up in an Islamic household or know Arabic. My background is rooted in Catholic traditions and because of this, I was honestly hesitant. I worried about unintentionally offending anyone or not knowing the proper etiquette. One Friday evening, I finally gathered the courage to attend topen class for reverts and those who simply want to learn. I dressed modestly and covered my head out of respect, still unsure of what to expect. Before I even reached the entrance, someone in the parking lot noticed I looked a little lost and kindly asked if I needed help. Almost immediately after, a sister warmly introduced herself. When I told her it was my first time ever stepping into a mosque, she didn't hesitate and she introduced me to other sisters and to Jamaal, who all welcomed me with open arms, patience, and absolutely no judgment. Their eagerness and kindness made me feel at home in a place that was once unfamiliar. The community at IIOC truly embodies hospitality and compassion. The center also offers so many resources, educational classes, and support for those wanting to learn more. I only wish I had started this journey sooner. If you're considering learning about Islam or whether you're thinking of becoming a revert or simply curious I cannot recommend enough that you just take the step and show up. You won't regret it. I certainly haven't. Thank you IIOC! read more

Such a great place and community, I came in search for knowledge and understanding of Islam. Shortly after reverted to Islam. The support here is more than I ever imagined. Judgment free zone I encourage anyone reading to stop by and pay a visit. read more

Everyone there are so nice & friendly... a great place to visit & learn more about the religion of Islam...

I came across Islam a few years back but I never got the opportunity to visit a mosque before IIOC, but as a revert it was the best first experience I could've had in a mosque due to all the programs and events that IIOC hosts. My favorite it's the "New Muslin Program" , I visit the classes every Sunday for the new muslins every week for like a month and finally made the decision to revert and SubHanAllah I was able to take my Shahada there together with other 3 persons that also revert with me and as of today we are 1 month and 19 days being Muslim Alhamdulillah!. IIOC has helped me not only with my getting closer to Allah hunger but also in other aspects of my life, like mental wellbeing and over all we are one big family especially for the younger ones they offer lost of programs for them too like summer school and they try to offer day care as much as they can so you can go to your onsite classes and they also have a shaded playground in the back. Teens are also encouraged to go they do a lot of events for them as well specially during summer. IIOC is my favorite mosque I drive from La puente to go to the events they host during the week as they are really about family and keeping the community together specially bringing in new people and showing them the mercy of Allah The most merciful landing a hand to our brothers and sisters specially from other religions that are curious about Islam. They also have social media accounts where they post about the upcoming events so you can know when to go. read more

Nice beautiful mosaque here. Pretty cool place and great place to listen to Muslim brothers speak.

Salaam Aleikum! My journey to Islam began back in 2017, when I visited Dubai & a couple other countries in the gcc. I'll never forget hearing the Adhan at Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, it was life changing. After my trip, I read the Qur'an in & I was shocked at how it sounded just like the Bible! You see, I was raised in a Baptist household, but only went to Sunday church until I was 5. Other than that, I wouldn't consider my family too hardcore religious. However I never felt a spiritual connection with the Bible & it wasn't until visiting the Middle East is when I turned over a new chapter in my life! Subhanallah. Before even visiting IIOC in person, I was so nervous lol. Silly I know!!! What initially drew me in, was watching some of the events on YouTube (just look up journey to Islam), & hearing other converts' stories. It was heartwarming & didn't seem so intimidating after all! This is the place to go if you're considering Islam, or if you're just curious about the religion. I never felt one ounce of judgement & brother Jamaal is the welcome wagon of IIOC! He is so knowledgeable & very easy to talk to. Their outreach department is amazing & they do quite a nice job of helping new muslims on their journey, since everyone goes through it differently, & can feel very overwhelming at first. It's amazing to connect with all walks of life. I can't say enough good things about this program! Special shoutout to Shakyh Mustafa Umar who does an amazing job of embracing American culture without letting go of Islamic values. It's so hard to find an imam who has the perfect balance... & isn't stuck in the Stone Age or isn't biased to one culture. He does a great job of separating cultural traditions from Islamic law/beliefs. I can't wait until this pandemic is over & inshallah there will be more events to attend! Right now everything is virtual which is a buzzkill. read more

Asalamu Alaykum, As a revert having a supportive community before my shahada and after meant(s) the world to me. Raised catholic and being the only Muslim in my house hold makes it difficult to connect 24/7 with a community. At IIOC's Dawah program and classes for New Muslims allows me to soak in and participate in the Sheikhs Q&A sessions. Lastly the warm smiles and welcoming I get day in and day out is just a sliver of the hospitality and care this masjid cultivates for reverts and born Muslims. May Allah bless them for their dedication and sacrifice for the Umma. read more

I recently attended a tour of this mosque led by Mohammed and Jamal. They were extremely helpful and inviting-- it was my first time attending a mosque in general, so I didn't know what to expect, but they made the experience wonderful and easy. They were super informative and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I learned so much and I will definitely be coming back here. read more

I visited the IIOC as part of an assignment on multicultural immersion and understanding. I had never been to a mosque before and was a little nervous about reaching out, but it turned out there was no reason to be. I was in contact with Jamaal who was able to schedule me with a tour of the mosque on very short notice with Nicole, their chair of public relations. Both of them were exceedingly accommodating in terms of my schedule (I more or less left everything to the last minute for my assignment) and Nicole was especially helpful in answering my questions. As far as the IIOC itself, it is a beautiful building with very kind and open people from all over the world celebrating community and faith. I applaud their commitment to public outreach and see it as a vital component in demystifying their religion to outsiders like me. Thank you so much! I look forward to visiting again. read more

This is the best Mosque that I have been to in the United States. First off, the mosque is absolutely beautiful. The mosque is designed in a traditional fashion with tiles and carvings. It also includes a minbar and a mihrab (traditional architectural designs of a mosque). The mosque has many windows, giving it a nice airy feel. Also, the women's section has a TV to watch the sermon, plus it is open to view the men's side and the imam. I like not being completely cut-off from the imam. It makes me feel more connected with the sermon. Secondly, the group that attends the mosque is international. I saw descendants from Africa, East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Thirdly, this group is involved in the community. They do everything from set up events to help single people find partners to running blood drives. They also have a really nice website that includes the Friday sermon if you miss it or want to re-hear it! Finally, the imam Shaikh Muhammad ibn al-Faqih is young and motivated. His sermon was well prepared and researched. It is evident that this imam has been educated in Islam. His voice is clear and well spoken. Anything he says in Arabic, he translates into English (including the du'a). Overall, this is a Mosque I will be returning to. read more

I went to this mosques for a little while. Most of the staff there is friendly, I didn't feel welcomed by the brothers and sisters there. I tried to reslove the issue but nothing worked. I was a revert but no longer practice. I took my shahada and then was basically left to figure things out on my own. I had no support in the community. I reverted because I truly believed in the Quran and it made logical sense to me. I had no support so I lost my faith. read more

One of the leading faith based institutions I would say in SoCal and the state of California plus across the nation. Everything done and planned here is in a very professional and systematic manner. I don't see the issues this institute is facing that I have witnessed in other Masajid. I would say others should look in to the model of IIOC and adopt the good practices. Great job the team at IIOC, Board and community members supporting and implementing all these different kind of activities for the benefit of the larger community in Anaheim and other neighboring cities. Keep up the good work. read more

About a month ago we had a 7th grade trip to the institute and I have to say that Jamaal and everyone at the location is friendly and welcoming. The trip brought to life what our 7th grade students had learned in their Social Studies classes. It was a unique and educational experience for my students and myself when we heard one female 8th grade student recite part of the Quran. The tour was given by three female ASB representatives; felt empowered when the girls took control of the tour!! read more
